Today I I got through the main arm mechanism of the stand. I did this by modeling a smaller version, and I duplicated that smaller version, and used it like chains to link all the arms together with the joint command. Now I just have to build the thing that will hold the phone. I’m also thinking about cutting some parts out of the arms to reduce weight. also Im thinking if there was a way so when I lift the arm, it doesn’t immedealty fall back down.

Today I finished modeling my phone, and got started on designing the phone stand. I looked online for a bit to get inspired. And I ended up wanting a phone stand that could look around 360, adjust height, go from landscape to portrait. almost like a robotic arm was the thesis for my phone stand. I started with the base which I just made a big circle then extruded it, but I needed a compartment inside it where a smaller circle could fit and rotate, so the whole arm could rotate, I did this by making another circle and I tried extruding it into the bigger circle. But that didn’t make a hole inside the big circle. So I tried another method, Instead of making the sketch ON the disk, I made it inside the disk. so when I extruded it it would make a cavity in the disk instead of making an indent.

Today I extruded the volume, and silence buttons on the phone, practically finishing it. I did this by making layers of circles, and extruding some layers in, and some layers a little bit out, then I rounded and chamfered the edges. I also decided to add some more details, like including the screen protector on my phone (it looks so much more realistic) and adding the front camera.

Today I got to work on the sketch for my card holder on the back of my iphone. This was pretty difficult to get the exact curves as the ones on my holder. I started by making a rectangle and filleting the edges acording to the ones on the card holder. then I took some points of inflections and marked them on my card holder. Then I used the my ruler to measure the distance from the base of the holder to the point of inflection, and the distance from that point to the side of the rectangles. Then I plotted the points on fusion, and I used the circle tool measuring thing to make sure all the curvatures were correct.

Today I finalized the bottom part of the phone and got started on moving to the side buttons. I did this by extruding the big speakers a little bit into the phone, and then extruded the smaller circles by twice the amount, I did the same thing with the charging port. Then I chamfered all the edges to finish the look. Then I got to work on the side buttons, I made these by using the same oval technique then extruding the sketches and filleting and chamfering the edges.

*sorry I forgot to take all these screenshots so I am taking them now, you can look at the history for justification. Today I got started on building the bottom buttons for the phone. I make a sketch on the bottom part of the phone and projected the ends to it. I didn’t have a super precise measuring tool at home, so I just put in variables to replace when I get to class. I make 2 larger but narrower ovals using the rectangle tool, then filleting it. then I used the rectangular pattern tool to create the row of tiny circles along the speaker. I made the charging port using the same way I made the ovals, then using the offset tool to make a lot of other smaller ovals.

Today I began modeling the Iphone. I started off with creating a rectangle sketch with the dimensions of the phone and filleted the edges by the measured amount. Then I extruded it by the height of the phone. and used the fillet command to round the edges. Then I began work on the camera, (I forgot to make a new component, but I don’t think It’ll harm me that much). So I modeled another sketch ontop of the slab I called a phone, and put in fillets, then the smaller camera lenses, an d the flashlight, and flashlight socket. Then I cut them all into the phone by using a weird measuring device that can measure the thickness of the inside of my phone case, and I cut each side by their respective amounts.

Today I finished my drawings for the iphone on paper, it is getting a little messy, so I think I’ll get to work on translating it onto fusion soon. I took the dimensions with the ruler in my dorm, so i’m not 100% sure about its accuracy. I can test how well these dimensions work in class tomorrow.

Getting ready for coming back to school, making sure that my computer is working and ready to hit the ground running.
