Three Critical Steps: Turning On the Laser Cutter
- Turn on the Air Valve
- Turn on the Laser Cutter
- Turn on Exhaust Fan
Using the laser cutter with Adobe Illustrator
The laser cutter differentiates between a vector path and raster etching based on the stroke width. To have the laser follow a vector path, set the stroke width to .0001. Graphics with a stroke width greater than .0001 will be treated as raster etching.
After you complete your artwork, follow these steps:
- Save the Adobe Illustrator file onto a removable USB drive
- Transfer the file to the computer in the print room.
- Open file in Illustrator
To have the laser follow a vector path, set the stroke width to .0001.
- Print your file
- File>Print
- Opens the Illustrator Print screen.
- File>Print
Media Size: Custom
Placement: X & Y = 0
The document and media sizes should have same dimensions.
Print – Sends the file to the Epilog Job Management software.
Using the Epilog Job Management Software
Make sure the Auto Focus is turned ON
If the laser is out of focus, it won’t cut properly. This will lead to a much wider cutting kerf and the laser not cutting all the way through the material.
Make sure Air Assist is turned ON
If the air assist isn’t turned on, you might fill the room with smoke and trigger the fire alarm.
