- Create a new file – 11.5″ x 11.5″
- CMYK Color Mode
- Modified Essentials Classic Workspace

- Create Guides Layer
- Create a 11.5″ x 11.5″ square with no fill
- Center square on Artboard with Transform Tool

- Show Rulers – Command R
- Turn on Smart Guides – Command U
- With square selected, drag guides to center

- Select the square
- Command 5 – turns square into its own set of guides with center point
- Lock the Guide layer
- Create new Swatches layers


Option Key – locks ellipse to center point

1) P Key – Pen Tool
2) Option Key – Anchor Point Tool


Find the center point and Option Click; define rotation point and bring up the rotate dialogue box



Rotate 45 degrees and copy


Command D – to repeat the transformation

Create circle in center
L Key – ellipse tool
Option Click – defines the center
Hold down the Shift Key to make a perfect circle.

Command C – copy
Command F – paste front


Scale the circle down and reduce the stroke width


Comand Shift A to deselect all

- Select Object
- R Key – rotate
- Option Click – define rotation point
- Set Angle and Copy
- Command D – to repeat the transformation


Swap Fill and Stroke (Shift X)


Cut away bottom section using scissor tool

Mirror objects using the Reflect Tool

- Option Click to define reflection point
- Select Vertical or Horizontal Axis



- Group Object
- R Key – rotate
- Option Click – define rotation point
- Set Angle and Copy
- Command D – to repeat the transformation


The scissors Tool only works if strokes are of a similar weight



Command Y – Toggle between outline and preview view



Use the Pen Tool to create a path to trim the shape …
Then use the Intersect option in the Pathfinder to trim shape



Use Select Same Stroke Color and then the Eyedropper to copy and apply appearance attributes between objects
