Convert text font into an edible shape

Use the Pathfinder tool to edit the shapes and connect the letters of your name.

Pencil Tool Settings

Use the Pencil tool to edit the shapes

  • Click on the original letter
  • Move to make the adjustments
  • Return to the original letter, and it will add to your customization
  1. Turn off the fill
  2. Make a copy of the layer
  3. Rename your layers

With the Text Fill layer selected, fill the text with graphic fill of your choice

  1. Save your Illustrator file onto the SanDisk USB-C Drive
  2. Include your name as part of the file name
    • Name_Text_to_Laser
  3. Open your Illustrator file on a computer connected to the laser cutter in the Print Room.

Change the stroke width to .0001

Print both layers with the following settings:

  1. Media Size: Custom
  2. Ignore Artboards checked
  3. Width: 24″ Height 12″
  4. Print

If all the settings are correct, there will be two Processes, Engrave and Vector

Select the Engrave Processes and change the following settings:

  1. Air Assist: on
  2. Auto Focus: Thickness
  3. Power: 75%
  4. Thickness: .125

Select the Vector Processes and change the following settings:

  1. Air Assist: On
  2. Auto Focus: Thickness
  3. Speed: 12%
  4. Power: 100%
  5. Frequency: 20%
  6. Thickness: .125

Click Print to send to the laser cutter
