Today I created a full scale drawing of my design, completing step 3.

There wasn’t much I could do for the rest of step 3 from home as I don’t have the material to make the full scale sketch, but I decided to just try to make some sketches with more measurements for some of the individual components of my lamp design to achieve more clarity.

Today I progressed with step 3 by creating more sketches for extra views and details, and adding measurements and details to my previous measured sketch of the lamp’s front view. For my more detailed lotus flower sketch for part of my lamp, I did more researching online to look at already existing ideas and sketch out what would fit best for my lamp, and I incorporated measurements and changed the design so it would best fit the socket and bulb.

Moving on to step 3 – I came up with an original a unique design idea that incorporated some of the elements of there designs I researched and I created a rough sketch. Then, I worked on defining specific design constraints and requirements on my lamp design by expanding on my rough sketch and adding measurements and specifications.

Today, I began the Lamp Design project. I started off by reading through the entire assignment and planning what I was going to do by coming up with ideas. Starting with the Define step of the design process, I created my problem statement.

Problem Statement: The user (me) is making a lamp for decoration in my room, and it will be ambient lighting. The design constraints are that the measurements of the lamp must be within 12″ x 12″ x 18″, materials must be appropriate for heat dissipation and durability, the lamp must have a working on/off mechanism, and should incorporate the socket and bulb. I should also be able to make a functioning prototype with materials from class. The lamp will be a nature/woodsy vibed lamp to complement the aesthetic of my room.

After creating my problem statement, I researched existing lamp solutions and edited the statements as I worked.

Moving on to the ideate phase, I generated 5 ideas for my lamp design.

Today I opened Fusion and after checking my working units, I adjusted measurements and joints to secure my cell phone model in the phone stand so that it accurately depicts how the phone’s physics wouldd work in real time on my cell phone stand project using the tools/commands: dimension, ground, unground, edit joint.

Today I opened Fusion and after checking my working units, I worked on my cell phone stand project using the tools/commands: New Component, New Sketch, Rectangle, Extrude, Dimension, & Joint.

Today I opened Fusion and after checking my working units, I worked on my cell phone stand project using the tools/commands: New Component, New Sketch, Rectangle, Circle, Line, Extrude, Fillet, Dimension, & Joint. All the parts of my cell phone stand are now put together, all that’s left is probably some final edits and fillets.

Today I opened Fusion and after checking my working units, I worked on my cell phone stand project using the tools/commands: New Component, New Sketch, Rectangle, Circle, Line, Extrude, Fillet, Dimension, & Joint. I’ve put the majority of my stand together and I need to make two more hinges to connect the last few parts.

Today I opened Fusion and after checking my working units, I worked on my cell phone stand project using the tools/commands: New Component, New Sketch, Rectangle, Dimension, Extrude, Copy, paste New, & Circle. By now I have my all basic parts (meaning without fillets, final touches, etc.) made except for the hinges.

Today I chose a final design for my cell phone stand after looking through my 4 rough sketches, and drew a more detailed sketch with measurements and different side views. Afterwards, I opened Fusion and created a new project for my cell phone stand. After checking my working units, renaming the project, and saving the file, I worked on my cell phone stand project using the tools/commands: New Component, New Sketch, Rectangle, Dimension, Extrude, New Sketch, & Circle.

Since I am finished with my cell phone model, I continued brainstorming for my cell phone stand and brainstormed and roughly sketched out two new ideas (now I have 4).

Today I opened my cell phone model file, checked the working units, and then made some final edits to my cell phone model using the fillet tool. Afterwards, I began the design process for my cell phone holder, and started brainstorming and researching possible ideas. After brainstorming a few ideas, I roughly sketched out two potential designs on a piece of paper, and plan to continue brainstorming and making more detailed sketches next class.

Today I opened my cell phone model file, checked the working units, and then progressed on my cell phone model using the tools/commands: new sketch, rectangle, dimension, extrude, fillet, & circle.

Today I opened my cell phone model file, checked the working units, and then progressed on my cell phone model using the tools/commands: Extrude, New Sketch, Project, Circle, Dimension, Fillet, & Spline.

Today I created a new Fusion file for my cell phone 3D model, and then I checked my working units and created a new component for the phone. Then, after renaming and saving the project, I worked on creating the phone using the tools/commands: New Sketch, Rectangle, Dimension, Extrude, & Project.

Today I traced, drew, and measured my phone plus its case on a piece of paper for the cell phone holder project.

I read the Design/Interview Process text.
