Class 11/10 – In class today I talked to mr brodie and he told my my lamp shade needs to be bigger. So after making the lamp shade biggering using a circle, extrude, and shell commands, I then remade my leaf pattern sketch inside so that it would fir this bigger shade. But, some of the extrusions are bugged and they cut through the actual light, which is something I have to fix by probably restarting the shade.

Hw 11/9 – For hw today I worked on finishing the my lamp shade by copying and pasting my sketch of a leaf onto different sketch planes. I then thin extruded them all so there was over 400 bodies in my design.

11/7 Classwork – In class I worked on designing the tiny leaves in my lamp shade. I worked on the sketches and then decided to extrude it. In order to get the effect of the cut right, I tinkered around with the wall measurements when I thin extruded the lines of the leaves.

HW 10/5 – For Hw today I fixed up some issues ( thickness and shape) with the lower right side and then I worked on the left side of the tree. Then, I worked on the Lamp shade for my lights. I am going for the leafy design, so I am going to make a lamp shade with the leaf pattern so that when the light shines, it shines leaf-shaped out of the tree.

Class work 10/4 – In class today I spent time with Mr. brodie to talk about the placement of my lights. Then I began to model out the rest of the bottom right side of the tree by creating a pipe and then extruding and forming it out to look like a branch. I also began to start on the lower left side of the tree.

Hw 11/03 – For hw today I worked on the molding to for the tiny branch on the right bottom side. I need to make it more thicker without compromising the shape. I also fixed and worked on the overall tree sketch and organized where I am going to put the light bulbs.

Classwork 11/03 – In class today I again took out my whole design since the idea of using pipes for the tree didn’t work that much. So, for the main branch ( middle) i used a cylinder. Then for the smaller branches that angle to.a different directions, I used the pipe command. Then I took each individual face and edited the form of each shape, to create realistic smaller branches

HW 11/2 – for Hw today I watched this video above to learn some basics of how I am supposed to use organic modeling to make my design. After watching the video, I went into another page in Fusion to just test out some ways and cool features with organic modeling. I then realized I could use my original sketches I had for branches again make them using the pipe command, but this time in the form menu. This allows all the pipes to be connected, unlike how it was originally.

Classwork 10/31- In class today, i started on the construction of my branches. I tried to be clever and make the branches out of pipes, therefore getting the round shape of the branches. Though I thought this would work, I spoke to Mr. Brodie and he said I needed to organically model my tree branches, to make them more realistic.

Classwork 10/27 In class today I decided to create a full scale of my design. I also changed some things from my original tree design. I decided to take out the leave entirely and create a “winter tree” without any leaves and just branches. Since Mr. Brodie advised me to not just have a the lights on the side of my design and that I should incorporate it into the design, i decided I was going to have many branches, where 3 lead to 3 areas of the three so that I can put lights there. Also I have a flap inside the three where I plan to put another light. The hole in the tree symbolizes a tree hollow.

Homework 10/26 – For homework I made 5 concept sketches of possible ideas for my lamp. I like the tree design because it is the most complex.

Classwork 10/26 – In this class period I started the design for the final lamp project. To create this 3D model of the phone, I inserted the reference image with all the dimensions. I after calibrating the the image, I used lines and the dimension key to create a model directly similar to the reference imagine. For the actual bulb, I learned how to and used the spline tool, which allowed me to create the curve of the blub much easier.

Classwork 10/20 – In this class period, I spent the first half of class finishing all my wordpress entries for the last couple of days. After I finished all of them, I looked for ways to improve my design, which I found i needed to make sure it can move. So, I made axels between the wheels and then I moved the wheels slightly off from the design, allowing them to be able to move. I then just organized the different sketches. In the end, my design is a moving car/robot with a hole in the back, (looks likes the hole of a rocket booster). This hole is for putting in an iphone cord and providing access right to the bottom of the phone.

Hw 10/19- For Homework tonight, I basically created my whole phone stand design. After being inspired by some of my peers, I decided I was going to make my phone stand a car. After first just making it a block. I used multiple sketches of each face of the block to mold the car into its car shape. Though originally I wanted my car to look like an F1 car, I soon decided to go for a more futuristic approach. After I modeled the car, I went on Mcmaster Carr and imported the design for 3 different wheels, all different sizes. I used the move command to find the ideal spot where I wanted the wheels to be and then cut out a hole horizontally throughout the whole design. Then, I used the holes and joined each of the wheels to the car using a revolute joint. After that I added my phone to the top of the car and then cut out a hole allowing for a charger to fit through the back of the car and into the top of the car. I then changed the color for all of the faces of my design.

Classwork 10/19 – In class today, I struggled but managed to glue my led lamp together. Since the base plate was un even with the full base when inserted, I had to put tiny squares of wood to level them out. After that, we flipped it around to find that the bottom plate was also uneven, so i added tiny squares of wood there as well. I then glued everything with wood glue and used blocks and clamps to hold the lamp in position when drying. I then tried to work on my phone stand design but then deleted everything by the end of class.

Homework 10/18 – For homework, I went into GCAD and finished all the soldering. I connected the negative charge from the outlet( black wire) directly into the led lamp wire without the dash. Then I used the switch to break up the positive charge. One I soldered the red wire to the red wire in the switch, I used the black wire of the switch( which doesn’t mean negative) and soldered it with the white dashed cord, which is the positive wire for the Led strip. Though I messed up a couple of times, each times I learned a new technique that helped me.

Classwork 10/19 – In this class period, I connected by base verticals to my lower arms with screws, now conjoining the entire main arm section together. I then added the switch into the hole and organized my wires to begin soldering them. I tried to solder them but I messed up so I cut the wire and I am going to fix it again next.

Oct 14 – Classwork In this class period, I spent the a majority of my time printing all my remaining and necessary parts for the Led lamp. After Mr. Brodie instructions were given, I went to the machine to upload the dxf files. I then added and reorganized my lower base plate and lower arm sketch and printed them out. After sanding each side of the arm, I glued in the mini magnets for the lower arm. after that, I attached the magnet plates onto the base verticals. I then added the led light strip onto the middle of the lower arm and then glued the base verticals onto the lower arm.
Orthographic Drawing for Iphone Model:

HW 10/5 – Today I finished my phone design. I did this by using precise measurements and designing the camera and the card holder along with my I.D on the back. After I designed them, I extruded them to give them depth and create an accurate model.
Classwork 10/3- Today I resumed my Led Lamp project and after struggling and almost breaking the machine :), I printed out my lower arm of the design. After spending most of the class on this, I then sanded the parts in the other room and then mixed the epoxy and glue together and glued in all the magnets including the small magnets as well as the small magnet plates. However, when checking on it later, I soon found out that the metal had moved and therefore glued incorrectly.

Homework 9/28 – For homework tonight, I used some of the sketch I made in class and started to design it on Fusion. I first created a rectangular body of the phone, using the dimensions measured in class. Then for the sides,I took all the measurements and made construction lines with the right distance between with the dimension tool. I then used these construction lines to create ellipses, which represent the buttons on the phone and the parts on the case that extrude up. I did this for both sides of the phone.
Classwork 9/28 – In this Class period today I worked on the orthographic drawings of my phone. I did this first by putting my phone on the paper and tracing around the edges with my case one. Due to the complexity of the shape of my case, this drawing was, and is going to be in the future, really hard. For the orthographic drawing, I drew the side views of the phone. I free-drew the buttons on the sketch as a rough estimate where it would go, but then listed the measurements of each single spacing between and all the buttons. I did this for both of the sides but I haven’t drawn the back yet.

Homework 9/27- For homework, I designed the full model for the base. I first did this bu creating the first sketch for the main base and after using commands like the tangent key and the cut key, I extruded the design to create a first main part. Then, using the drawings from the first sketch, I created the base plate and bottom plate but cutting and extruding different elements of the base to create the final design.

Classwork 9/26. I FINALLY FIGURED OUT HOW TO PROPERLY CUT THE BASE PLATE FROM THE BASE VERTICALS. I had been having so much trouble with it and i spent the first half of class figuring it out. Then, I went back to my lower horizontal sketch and extruded (cut) out the square and circles creating holes in the drawing, so that it would create the hole when I eventually print it out. I also saved all my drawing for the lower half into dxf files and added those files into my folder. I will cut the parts next class.

Classwork 9/22 – In the lab period today, I did a lot of things. First, I sanded the parts for the upper arm and then glued in the magnets. Then I decided to work on the design and join the base plate to the base verticals, though I’ve still struggled on how to cut the overlap between them since it just isnt working. I also added in the 4 screws to all the joints and added a bar in between the lower magnets.

HW- 9/21 For homework tonight, I made more progress on the design by adding the large magnets to the bottom and creating the base verticals. I again created a new component, and then started off with a circle. I then created a line and used the offset key to create a line with I used for the design later on. I then merged the circle with the rectangular base and then created rectangles and cut out the middle one on the bottom. I then copied and pasted it to create 2 and then I joined it to the total design.

Classwork 9/21 In this class period, I finally cut out the upper arm in wood using rhino!!!! I did this by uploading, importing, and grouping all the dxf files/designs to rhino 3d and then created a rectangle to represent the size of the board. I then clumped and fit the designs into the rectangle, deleted the rectangle, and then printed the designs onto the wood board by sending instructions to the machines.

HW 9/19 – For HW, I just had to create dxf files for the other components of the design. Again for the lower arm side, I used the basic sketch I used to create the side of the arm to save as a dxf. But for the Lower Horizontal, I had to create a new sketch and place it on the top side of the horizontal piece. Then I projected this top side onto the new sketch and saved this sketch as a dxf file.

Classwork 9/19 – In this class today, I learned how to save my work into dxf files. First, for the upper arm side, it was much easier as I just had to save the sketch of the arm as a dxf file. But, for the upper horizontal part, I had to create a new sketch and then project just the top side of the part, so that when I saved this new sketch to a dxf, I would save the right shape.

Classwork 9/15- In this class today, I made a new component: the base plate. I did this by first making a big circle and then filling it with more circles to create mortises. This was challenging however since today, in the left most mortise, I had to make very tiny “bumps” along the circumference of the circle. I did this by using the offset key, which allowed me to move a radius line in 2 directions, which created these bumps. I then used the trim key to cut all the excess lines from the design and then extruded the design to make it 3D.

HW -9/14 In this day, I created the middle/horizontal part for the lower arms, but it was more challenging this time because the arms were at an angle. Since they were at an angle, I had to make our construction lines at an angle. Once I finished making the constructions lines using the cut feature, I then created the sketch and put in on one arm. I then extruded this sketch to the other side and then, using the combine feature, cut any overlapping parts. Then, we took this horizontal part and created circle and squares on the back face, which will later be cut out. We efficiently made the square by using the dimensions tool and the rectangular pattern tool.

Class 9/7/2022 – I finished the design of the first upper arm side, by using the rectangular and circle pattern cutters to create morticies. Then, I extruded the design to make it 3D. I completed one full arm side.
