11/17/22 Homework/Final Project: Over the last couple of days I finished my final project which is this model lamp. The design is simple; however, designing it in fusion, using a form to create the fish, pipes to create the line and rod, revolving the silhouette of the cork, and different types of joints throughout the reel was difficult. I did not have the correct appearance options to make the rod or fish look realistic so I decided to do a Lawrenceville Big Red theme across the lamp and then I made the base bamboo as that highlighted the lamp more than making it red or black did. I also had to create individual faces on the rod for each eye-lit to joint to as the rod is an irregular object doesn’t have a lot of areas to joint other components onto. The fishing line is just a skinning pipe that I created but I think it reflects a fly fishing line very well as in real life fly line is quite thick. To get the lightbulb in the fishes mouth I combined cut the two components together and then created a circle, the diameter of the rod of the lightbulb, and cut out a path for the wires to go down, from there they can go go out the back of the base. To create the fish itself I had to create a form I wanted to make it look like the fish was biting the lamp, like it would a fly, but due to my lack of experience using forms I was unable to do this. Lastly I created a room, desk, and chair to display my lamp on. This project was a lot of fun as I used everything I learned from this term to make it and pushed my fusion boundaries in the process. I faced a lot of challenges when designing this lamp but in the end I accomplish what I set out to make.

11/12/22 In class: Today in class I inserted the light bulb and then made everything to scale. When doing this certain components got messed up so I am now working to fix them. I also started to redesign my fish because I am going to make its mouth open for the light bulb.

11/12/22 Homework: Tonight for homework I finished my fish. After recreating the body with a little change I designed the fins using splines and then extruded the sketches equally on either side of the fish. Then I also cut off the back of the fish by extruding a sketch onto it and using extrude cut.

11/9/22 In-Class: Today in class I tried to joint my reel to the rod by making a face within the rod but it wouldn’t work so I moved to a new stage in my project and began making the fish.

11/9/22 Homework: Today for homework I finished my reel. It can reel and the drag can be adjusted. I am not sure how to joint it to my rod but plan on dealing with that tomorrow.

11/7/22 In-class work: Today in class I added a spool to the reel and began redesigning the connector to the rod. I also hollowed out the spool so looking at it from the outside it is hallow.

11/7/22 Homework: Tonight for homework I did a lot technically with my reel. I had to make the drag clicker base an independent component so I could then joint it to the reel and joint the clicker to the base which can now rotate as well. I also made a handle and jointed that to the rod as well as a piece that holds it onto the rod.

11/4/22 Classwork: Today in class I redesigned my reel slightly, added in components to hold the reel together, and added a drag clicker to the reel. To fix my issue from last night I used the paste new button instead of paste when making a copy of the reel face.

11/4/22 Homework: Tonight for homework I began making the reel for the rod. To do this I inserted a photo of a reel to base mine off of. Then I duplicated it and ran into problems as I cannot add individual components to one of the sides anymore. I plan on resolving this problem in class tomorrow whether that means Mr. Brodie has a solution for me or I have to make a new face.

11/2/22 In-class work: Today in class I finished my eye lit and then copied it and put them on the rod. I just need to make one more eye-lit for the rod tip that will be different from the others.

11/2/22 Homework: Tonight for homework I continued working on the eyelet however got stuck when considering the small part that connects the eye lit to the rod. Then I came to a conclusion on what I want my final product to look like and finalized that idea. The idea is to have the lightbulb above the rod with a lampshade and then below I will have a fish on the rod and hopefully a fly in its mouth.

11/1/22 In-class work: Today in class I redid my fly rod and this time I made the handle the same but the rod is a pipe and is bent. I also worked on an eye let at the end of class.

11/1/22 Homework: Tonight for homework I created my fly rod by inserting a canvas into a new component labeled Rod and then creating a spline based off of the canvas. Then I revolved the sketch around the midline of my sketch as the spline was only half of the rod. Lastly, I deleted the canvas from the Rod.

10/31/22 In-class Work: Today in class I began making the fly rod and then when I started thinking about making the cork Mr. Brodie recommended that I inserted a photo of a fly rod as a canvas and make it the same way I made the light bulb. I will start making the rod tonight for homework.

10/28/22 In-class Work: Today in class I brainstormed a lot more for my idea and landed on one I think I want to do. The idea is a fly fishing rod with a line connected to the bobber and when you turn on the light the bobber lifts off the light.

Homework 1 Upper arm:

In class work 9/7/22: We added in holes to the upper arm then copied it and added joints to both arms. This will help with connecting the arms to other pieces.

Homework 9/8/22: For homework, we added a connecting piece between the two upper arms and cut out extra material within this new piece. I was unable to cut out the material on one of the sides hopefully we can resolve this tomorrow.

In class Work 9/9/22: In class we made 2 small discs and uploaded in a piece to connect the two arms. I realized that I had made too many duplicates of an arm and now my model is messed up however I plan on fixing it in class and will figure out how to deal with it.

Homework 9/12/22: For homework, we drew the made one lower arm and a large and small metal plate. Since the previous homework, I have fixed my problem of having a duplicate arm as I fixed that in class. In class, we also made the base vertical.

Homework 9/19/22: Tonight for homework we uploaded all the parts of the upper arm into a folder and then onto a usb for the computer that is connected to the laser cutter.

In Class Work 9/28/22: Today in Class we sketched a model of our phone with dimensions of everything. We plan on using this measurements for a phone stand that we will make in fusion.

Homework 9/29/22: Tonight for homework I began to model my iPhone. I made the phone and the camera and extruded both of them.

Tonight for homework I finished my iphone and put a ringer in as well. No hiccups as everything was straight forward.

In Class 10/3/22: Today in class I printed my lower arm, base plate, base verticals, and the lower plate. I plan on constructing these pieces in next class.

In Class 10/4/22: Today in class I constructed my lower arm and glued the metal discs onto the upper and lower arm. I also glued the base verticals onto the base plate and glued the metal discs onto the base verticals. Lastly, I put the screen on my phone and colored my phone as well.

10/7/22 homework: Tonight for homework I drew four possible phone stands. My terrible drawing skills really showed through sorry if you can’t understand what I was drawing. I had 4 ideas 2 simple one complex and one that is probably out of the picture as I had an idea to make a phone stand made of small wood skis with a block on the bottom two skis or rails for the phone to keep the phone sitting up.

In-class 10/7/22: Today in class I finished assembling my LED lamp and started designing different phone stands. The one I designed was too simple so I deleted it.

10/11/22: Today in class I finished my LED lamp. I installed the LED strip as well as the bottom then sauntered the wires together tested it and glued everything together.

10/27/22 Homework: Tonight for homework I designed four possible lamps. My favorite one is a fishing rod with a line coming done with a wooden fish on the line and a light bulb on the top of the rod. I also like the one in the bottom right corner with two ball joints as the light bulb can be at any angle.
