CW 5/3
troubleshooted a couple of the panels that had issues for my desktop organizer. No image today because there isn’t anything to show — i just changed the location of some joinery and downloaded it.

HW 4/19
About 1/3 of the way through correcting all of the sketches. Hopefully the finished result will be done after next class – I’ve done 12 (except I only did part of 12) of 38 sketches so far.

CW 4/18
Finished generating AI designs and learned that I made all the dimensions wrong. Here’s a nice picture of a plane that i’m using:

CW 4/17
Generated some AI designs to put on the box. Most of them sucked but here’s one that I really liked. theme is definitely going to involve plane/space stuff.

CW 4/14
Reworked the drawer and the back plate. I also made significant progress on making designs for the left panel and some of the front panels. I’m thinking of making it space-themed.

CW 4/11
Done! Now I just need to add designs.

HW 4/11
I made a shelf + cont’d work on the food slide

CW 4/3
Finished the cardboard box and worked on my final design.

HW 4/3
After showing the virtual model of my initial design to Kingsley, I slightly changed the dimensions of certain compartments to better meet his needs for storage. However, he liked my implementation of the quick access hidden phone charger and the snack dispenser, so I kept the vast majority of my design the same as the original. I have begun working on the final version. I also asked additional questions about how he wants the design of the joinery to look. Additionally, I solicited feedback about the aesthetics of the organizer, and we discussed the possibility of AI generated artwork panels on the exterior of the organizer. We also continued our discussions about the materials and color of the organizer. While the discussion did not yield many changes, and the changes that I am making are minor, the discussion helped me gain a better understanding of the needs and desires of Kingsley.
Continuing to work on the final draft of the box. I changed some dimensions based on feedback that I received, but the updates are minor.

CW 4/1
Glued the cardboard squares and also cut out more pieces. Will update with image on Monday because I didn’t have time to take them during last class.
HW 4/1
Got started on my final draft of my model — created the base plate. Final draft now includes joinery and hopefully will include some cool AI generated designs!

CW 3/31
Cut out some cardboard squares for the box.

HW 3/30
Basically finished my box. The hidden phone compartment seems to be okay, though it isn’t really that hidden, and the food dispenser is looking niiiice. I am still working on a dispensing solution (not sure if I want it manual or motorized if that’s even allowed) but once that’s done I’ll be ready to work on a model.

CW 3/28
Preliminary sketches for my box. Started working on the design for the food dispenser.

HW 3/28
Rough sketches of my box. I haven’t put dimensions yet but these are the basic sketches I will be going off of.

CW 3/27
Paragraph
I am trying to solve the problem of having too many loose items left on your desk that can get lost and make your desk messy. My solution is to create a single storage solution that holds a multitude of loose items usually found on a desk so that the desk stays clean and organized. I will do this by creating a large box. On one side of the box will be space for books, organized by subject. On the other side will be a variety of compartments, shelves, and other spaces that will hold pencils, pens, erasers, pencil lead, and other tools required for academic work. Additionally, the box will also have a wireless charging station for a phone, a hidden snack compartment to store snacks, and possibly even a snack dispenser that will dispense a small snack of the user’s choosing (e.g. oreos, gummy bears, etc). The box will be simply yet elegantly designed, and fit in well with the surrounding environment.

Clean, elegant, simple.
- What materials do you prefer for your organizer to be made of?
I don’t have specific preferences but something sturdy.

One section for books and folders, one section for pens and pencils, a phone charging station, a snack dispenser, and a supplies section for pencil lead, tape, etc.
- What specific designs does your dream organizer have? Are there any other personalizations that you would appreciate? (e.g. RGB lights, artwork related designs, etc)
Lighting would be cool (especially RGB) but I don’t have any specific designs that I want.
- Describe the environment of your room that the organizer will be in. What color is your desk? Your walls? Is your room messy or clean?
Standard wooden desk and white walls.

Final Project Custom Box design

Here are the designs for my custom box. I wasn’t sure exactly what to do, so I put my name on the front, and designed a random geometric pattern for the back. The box is divided into two compartments. I was going to do four compartments, but I ultimately decided that the box would be more useful if the compartments were bigger, so I changed it to only two. I may change the geometric design over break, but I think that it will likely stay the way it is now, though I’m worried about how long that would take to laser cut that out. This entire box was made in one afternoon, so it’s only getting one post.
Cardboard Box Final Version!

I’m really happy how the box turned out — I think it looks pretty nice 🙂
LED Lamp Final Version!

Finally finished my LED Lamp! Despite some minor issues while building, it turned out really well and is now fully functional.
Fri, Feb 23 HW

Work is almost done for the main side of the box. The bottom is done, and the sides will have minimal design, so they shouldn’t take very long. The rear part can be completed with relative ease. I think that this project can be done by class tomorrow.
Tues, Feb 14

Had a very productive day today, and with some help from copy/paste, i managed to finish the box. will begin printing probably on friday. updates from now on are going to be less frequent bcuz printing things takes so much time (not that bad actually but there is always a line which is 12 millenia long)
HW Tues, Feb 14

Worked on printing my LED lamp in class, but for homework I finalized the side of the box except for the holes in the middle – going to work on that in class if I can finish my lamp during lab period tomorrow.
HW Mon, Feb 13

Preliminary work on the box has begun. Bottom is complete. Working on the sides.

Phone stand is complete! I added two phones to show how the phone could be positioned on the box, as well as an airpod case on the bottom.
Fri, Jan 27
Basic structure/base of the phone stand has begun.

Tues, Jan 24
Finished the iPhone design, including notch and all other aspects of the phone. Attempted to put a wallpaper on the front but ultimately decided against it because it was glitching. I didn’t include a photo because the phone looks functionally the same as it did last time (the only differences are extremely minor.)
Fri, Jan 13 and prior work — iPhone design

Body of the phone is complete, along with all cameras and ports. Will add bezels and notch later.
Tues, Dec 13 HW + Classwork

Fusion 360 was giving me problems (again) so this is a joint upload. Top and bottom are joined together, baseplate is made. Finally nearing completion!
Mon, Dec 12 Homework

My Fusion 360 crashed so I was unable to complete everything but I still made and extruded the lower arm in the first few minutes of class 🙂
Tues, Dec 6 Classwork

Finally cut out the upper arm, so now it’s not just a useless picture on a lame computer screen. Unfortunately, one side of the wood looks kinda goofy so it looks singed in weird areas on the other side; almost spotted. Also it smells like burnt wood 🙁
Tues, Dec 6 Homework

Upper arm duplicated and complete. Ready for printing.
Mon, Dec 5 Classwork

Upper arm finished sketch and extruded, but still incomplete.
Mon, Dec 5 Homework

Sketch of upper arm has begun, but still at the very beginning.

I know I look goofy as heck but I don’t care
Actually I do care and this is a terrible photo. Trust me, I look better in real life. Trust me.
