This is a picture of me and my family’s dog Peanut.

He’s 16 years old now and still stealing my food.

The orthopedic drawing for my phone. It’s a really rough drawing but it has the measurements for when I make one on Rhino, which should be a lot clearer and neater.

After watching the rapid prototyping video, the thing I found most interesting is the fact that even the most futuristic ideas can be prototypes with everyday items like hairbands, chopsticks, clay and clothing hangers. I think this video taught me that every great design starts out as just ideas and scrap parts put together. In fact it also relates to this class because we are designing things and making prototypes, showing that if we have any ideas, we should try it out as a prototype as it offers more insight into what the final product might be like.

There are quite a few constraints to a cardboard phone stand such as:

Material (cardboard is not very strong or heavy)

Structure Integrity – The phone stand needs to be able to hold the phone without toppling or collapsing

Accessibility – While the phone is in the holder, the buttons and essential stuff need to be accessible without problems, or the phone stand becomes useless because you have to take it out and press the buttons.

Problem Statement
My phone stand design should hold the phone without collapsing, keep the phone stable when in the stand so it is possible to work on other things while still being able to easily look at the screen. It should also be easy to carry around and change it’s location without risking the structural integrity of the stand. I want to have a phones stand that is simple and effective, while still allowing users to be able to use the phone’s functions.

The fourth industrial revolution is one that merges many aspects of life into one giant growth of technology.

Pencil Holder Sketches:

October 7

I finished the 3d model of my pencil holder, and made sure all the parts fit together.

I spent a lot of time trying to make a cog, but I don’t know if I want to keep it in the final design yet.
I added the general shape and design, but still need to put details in

It’s actually kind of ironic that my bottom panel is on top and my top panel is on the bottom of this image 😀
The bottom parts of this sticks into the bottom panel, and this holds the fake candle thing in place so it doesn’t slide around

Final Project

For my final project my client wants a small drawer/organizer for their sticky notes and flash cards (after way too many times of losing a whole stack of vocab set).

Problem: Messy desk with way too many random bits of paper everywhere
Solution: A desktop organizer that can hold the random bits?

This is the layout I ended up with, unfortunately I still need to change some things to make them fit together.
