Finals Week + Weekend

Final Design: I have made a few adjustments to the major design, firstly I created the last panel I was meaning to make and its meaning is explained later. I also added more texture to the clock wheels as they were looking very bland. And I added numbers to the clock for it to look much cooler. The entire design is based off of clockwork. The front panel would be the clock and on the sides would be the gears making the clock turn. On the back, finally I went to try and make an energy source and a sort of pulley system to have the gears turn so the clock can work.

Today, in class I expanded on my homework and I finished my third side. The first and this side will act as gears that help the major clock to turn. Sadly, I couldn’t print out my design, but I really want to finish it for finals.

Homework due 05/23/2023

For today, I started a new side that would look similar to the opposite gear side. (It’ll make sense in the end) I didn’t have much time, but I’ll see where I can take this in class.

In class 05/19/2023

Today I finished assembling my desktop organizer. I had come to consultation to start gluing the parts, but it needed a little more time. Today I finished up everything and here are a few photos of it in its position at home.

Homework due 05/19/2023

For today, I was really wondering how I should finish the clock side of the project. I tried many different patterns, but many were too complicated or I didn’t like them. So I went with a simple stripe that would let a lot of light through.

Homework due 05/16/2023

Today, I wasn’t able to complete any homework because I was extremely sick yesterday night. I am so sorry.

In class 05/15/2023

Yesterday, I worked with Mr. Brodie to finish photoshopping the two images for my desktop organizer and I should easily have them printed tomorrow. The Singapore side was missing something so I added a plane on top to add some character and I am very happy with it.

Homework due 05/15/2023

For today, I took a lot of time to make a big clock which will be the main face of the project. The clock even has numbers engraved on it and arrows to look as good and realistic as possible.

Today in class I photoshopped entirely my Singapore skyline and I am ready to print it out it’s looking good!

Homework due 05/09/2023

For today I created my first side of the luminary, I went with a similar design as my drawing, but I made the gears much bigger. and added a bit less connections than planned to let a lot of light through. I still like the design because it was really what I was aiming for.

Today, I photoshopped on my own my Paris skyline again. I finished it this time. I created more contrast between all the buildings of the skyline and I took away all the water from the river carefully as I thought it wouldn’t come out well.

Homework due 05/03/2023

For today, I chose to go with the clockwork sort of design. I think most panels will look about like this. I was inspired by one of the luminaries in class. For each side there will be many gears and some sort of aspect of clockwork like there is a needle here. I thought there would be an arch design at the bottom on each side to also connect them.

In class 05/02/2023

Today I worked with Mr. Brodie to start photoshopping my entire Paris side of the desktop organizer. We came up with keeping a cloud of smoke which would look cool on the side and I started erasing many spots that I did not like.

Homework due 05/02/2023

For today I had a lot of work and couldn’t get anything done to move on with my luminary project. I did find the appropriate photo of Singapore to place on my desktop side though.

In class 05/01/2023

Today, I worked with Mr. Brodie to edit the sides of my desktop organizer and I finally know what I will put on the side opposite of Paris: The Singaporean Skyline

realistic image of the skyline of Singapore and Marina Bay Sands

Homework due 05/01/2023

Here are my four sketches of my initial luminary concept. I like them but they will most definitely change as I start creating it and see it take shape.

In class 04/28/2023

Today, I used my class time to cut out all the parts of my desktop organizer from the laser cutter. I am now almost done with my desktop organizer but I need to finish my engravings on adobe to get the final two sides and complete my project.

In class 04/25/2023

Today I took all the sketches of each of the individual parts of my desktop organizer and organized them all into rectangles on Rhino 3d to cut out with the laser cutter later

In class 04/19/2023

Today I spent the entirety of class working with Mr. Brodie on finding and putting images for the sides of my desktop organizer and putting them on adobe to photoshop them

In class 04/14/2023

This is the final design for my desktop organizer. Today, I finished up the pencil box and I encountered a few problems but I managed to finish and polish everything

Homework due 04/14/2023

For today I started working on incorporating the pencil box into my design

In class 04/11/2023

Today I finished up my drawer for my desktop organizer and put it in the organizer. Now, my client just thought of incorporating a pencil box in the design to help them and I started thinking about where to put it and the design

Homework due 04/11/2023

For today I kept on working on my desktop organizer and almost finished my drawer for the final design

In class 04/10/2023

Today, I fixed some major flaws in my design and a few glitches in fusion to keep on going with the project. I also started my big drawer.

Homework due 04/10/2023

For today I created the shelving and found a solution for the drawer in the bottom space that I will start to work on today.

Homework due 04/05/2023

This is the prototype on my brother’s desk it takes up a good amount of space but less than the mess that he usually has on it.

In class 04/04/2023

Today I worked on my cardboard prototype again, I finished the shelving and created the pencil box my brother wanted to add in pencils

Homework due 04/04/2023

I created the dividers in the middle of the organizer for the shelves and the notebooks and folders.

In class 04/03/2023

I created the center part of the organizer and it is starting to take shape and look good

Homework due 04/03/2023

In my design I have incorporated a drawer large enough to fit the paperwork for my brother. I also have two spaces with a separator in the middle to put all of his notebooks and anything he wants. I also am going to put an orange 3d printed design of the Eiffel tower on the back to have both the Eiffel tower and his favorite color

Homework 03/28/2023

For today I made six concept sketches of my desktop organizer with different ideas but I already picked the one in the top left to be the final one.

——————————————————————————————————————————-In class 03/27/2023

My brother wants an organizer that can fit in his A4 format papers, so I was thinking of having them lie flat in a drawer that takes up the bottom of the organizer, and organize his notebooks vertically with dividers. The personalization I will make for him will be having an inscription of the Eiffel tower, the meaning behind it is that we are french and our country means a lot to us. As a bonus I will try to incorporate his favorite color orange throughout the build.

Homework due 03/27/2023

My brother ‘s answers

  • Hello, how are you?

I’m great how about you?

  • Have you been struggling with organization lately?

A little bit, I sometimes get lost in my stuff

  • Any possible items you would like the desktop to be able to hold?

I don’t know but papers and my notebooks and binders would be great

  • At the moment what are some organizational techniques you use?

I have some small sort of boxes in which I separate my stuff

  • In what ways do you think you benefit from having this desktop organizer?

To have everything really close to me and separated nicely would really help

  • What is your favorite color?

I really like orange

  • Would you like any personalized additions to your desktop organizer?

An Eiffel tower would be really cool

  • Finally, what would be the ideal size for your desktop organizer?

Something not too big that would fit nicely on my desk and in which I can place A4 format papers

Homework due 02/24/2023

This is my final box, added a bit of color and I think it looks good! There is storage space in the top and bottom of the box

Homework due 02/22/2023

I added the middle face where the pencils will stand on and I realized the pencils would not stay in and be too big so I heightened the walls to 7.5 inches.

Homework due 02/21/2023

I added the sides to the box and it is starting to take the shape of the final project. I added a nice curve on the sides to make the box seem more intricate and not as boring

Homework due 02/17/2023

I started doing a few sketches of the box and started with the first face. I made it 9 inches long to be able to fit a lot of stuff.

In class 02/14/2023

Today in class I finished my box by adding the inside dividers and I worked on my LED lamp project.

In class 02/13/2023

Today in class I built upon my homework and finished the outsides of the box by creating the sides of the box.

In class 02/03/2023

Today in class I finished my phone stand with my double ball joint working and it looks great!

Homework due 02/03/2023

For homework I created the seat in which my phone will be when it is connected to the stand

In class 01/31/2023

Today in class I worked a lot on my phone stand. I created the base where the ball joint of the arm is connected making a functional and movable arm.

Homework due 01/31/2023

For today, I started the phone stand by creating the legs of the phone stand with correct dimensions in comparison to the phone.

In class 01/28/2023

Today in class I finalized my lamp model my checking some details and adding in the base to finally complete the lamp.

In class 01/27/2023

Today I polished the back of my phone changing the color and adding a few missing details. I also finalized my sketches that I hadn’t touched in a while with all the dimensions of my phone.

Homework due 01/27/2023

I finished the front side of my phone today in class, I added the final buttons on the front and fillet’d the sides to make it look more like my phone case

In class 01/24/2023

During my time in class today, before stating my phone stand project on fusion, I decided to be sure on the mechanisms and design for my phone stand. I started with three but ended up with four spider-like legs followed by a base in which there is a stick with a double ball joint connecting the base and the stand where the phone will be sat on with wings on the sides to keep the phone in place and a hole to charge your phone while it is still standing

Homework due 01/24/2023

I created four sketches of possible phone stands for my project, most of the designs are simple but I really liked the bottom two and decided to go with the design on the bottom right

Homework due 01/09/2023

I created the base of the lamp that will hold everything together. It is made up of multiple different parts like the main, base and bottom plates. The wiring of the lamp will enter through it

In class 12/13/2022

I attached the large metal plates to the bottom of the lower arm sides, then created the base verticals and then attached them to the plate. After all that I created the base plate and attached it to the bottom of the rest of the form.

Homework due 12/13/2022

I created the lower arm horizontal to connect the 2 lower arm sides and created a circular and rectangular pattern on it to create holes in it

In class 12/12/2022

Today we connected the small metal discs to the end of both upper arm sides then connected both lower arm sides to the disks and rotated them by 105ยบ

Homework due 12/12/2022

I created both the Small and Large metal plates which are used in between different parts to connect and complete the final project.

In class 12/09/2022

I did not get the chance to 3d print my parts so instead I finished the Lower Arm Side of the LED lamp.

In class 12/06/2022

We created the upper horizontal arm to connect both upper arm sides. Copied their 2D sketches onto a USB key to laser cut the parts out.

In class 12/05/2022 but also homework due 12/06/2022

I finished the sketch of the upper arm, giving it a circular and rectangular pattern as well as copied the upper arm, and separated them at a length of 0.94 from side to side.

Homework due 12/05/2022

Created a sketch of the first upper arm side of the LED lamp
