Reading Day: FINALE

Using reading day I was able to make the sketch of the bottom base of the Luminary and print and construct my parts. The pictures below are the finished product.

joined parts in fusion to see what it would look like when finished, made the bottom joining square and fixed some thickness issues

5/25 Homework

I gave the finished product of my desktop organizer to Yushi. We put all the components of the project into use and Yushi liked it a lot.

5/24 Classwork

Finished Fusion sketches

5/24 Homework

I revised the thickness of my sketches so that it would be able to be sanded, but I didn’t increase the margins too much because I liked the intricate nature of my original designs. I tried to find a good balance between my intricacy and efficiency and durability.

5/22 Classwork

Worked on my third luminary sketch and tested my second one by printing and sanding, it was too thin to survive the sanding process and broke.

5/22 Homework

Finished second fusion sketch of luminary

5/18 Classwork

started second sheet

5/18 Homework

Continued to work on Fusion, finished first sheet

5/17 Classwork

Continued Luminary Work

5/17 Homework

Started Luminary Fusion

5/15 Classwork

Finished product of desktop organizer:

Although I had some trouble with the mistake of using the wrong material thickness in my design, I’m glad I was able to persevere and the person I’m giving this to is happy with the outcome. I used drawings as I was told that etching on cardboard is dangerous. Yushi wanted a drawing of a koi fish because he misses the pet koi he has back in Japan, and I wrote the word “love” in Japanese.

5/11 Classwork

Completed a second sketch and printed the remaining pieces of my desktop organizer

5/11 Homework

Finished a final draft of one side of luminary project

5/4 Classwork

Printed parts and started assembly, I’m missing some parts that I was supposed to print multiple of

5/1 Classwork

Worked more on sketches, fixed the scaling problem during consult

5/1 Homework

I made 2 designs symmetrical inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright and 2 asymmetrical designs. in my first sketch, the first symmetrical design, I was still adapting to the format and getting used to the assignment. I’d like to think that my designs after that one improved.

4/27 Classwork

I wasn’t able to print today because my file scale was off so I brainstormed ideas for my luminary project and made some sketches

4/26 Classwork

Because my drawer was too big to the slot (it was the same size so movement wouldn’t have been smooth), I shunk the dimensions of it slightly and uploaded the new sketches onto my folder and replaced the outdated files.

4/20 Classwork

Finished Rhino layout and sent to Mr. Brodie, because I mistook the thickness of the material to 0.17, I’m using cardboard for my design instead of plywood.

4/17 Classwork

Again I wasn’t able to get anything done due to the drive I was using being in use by Mr. Brodie all of class

4/13 Classwork

Today I revised one of my sketches and determined the material I need to use for my fabrication. I wasn’t able to import my files into rhino.

Physical prototype

4/5 Homework

Although I forgot my cardboard prototype in the lab, I managed to represent the dimensions of my design on my friend’s desk, and his only critique was that he wanted the design to extrude up, which I then clarified that it will. I showed him a picture of my prototype and my fusion design and he was very happy with how the desktop organizer was coming along.

I used the binder and the notebook to represent the length and width of the design.
