Thur, Feb 20 CW – image of work completed in class

I came to class early thinking I was going to be able to print my panels but Mr.Brodie said I couldn’t. I had to simplify the negative space more and stuff. So I spent the whole class doing that to every single one of my panel.

Thur, Feb 20 HW – image of completed homework

I didn’t do anything for homework for this day. I thought I was all done and ready to print my panels next class.

Tue, Feb 18 CW – image of work completed in class

Today in class, I test-printed two panels to see how they would turn out. I played with a few settings to decide what I would prefer. I made some new changes to my layers in Adobe Illustrator. I added more negative spacing for all my panels. I also used the anchor point tool. It helped me connect lines without parts of my reference image cutting out.

Tue, Feb 18 HW – image of completed homework

For homework, I went to a consultation and did a test print for my first layer. It came out okay, but I have done better. So, I went into Illustrator and fixed up all my panels. I also added more negative space for the image above.

Fri, Feb 14 CW – Image of work completed in class

I didn’t do anything in class except work on negative space. I thought I was done editing. I was going to be able to do my test prints.

Fri, Feb 14 HW – Image of completed homework

I didn’t really do anything for homework. I tried to fix my errors in class. I am just waiting to be able to test-print my panels.

Wed, Feb 12 CW – Image of work completed in class

I didn’t do much in class today. I worked on my negative space and connected some points that weren’t added correctly. It came out correctly. I think I am ready to start printing all my panels next class.

Wed, Feb 12 HW – Image of completed homework

For homework, I worked on all the negative space for my panels. I finished it up to the best of my ability. Now I just have to double-check a few things. I am ready to print my project panels.

Mon, Feb 10 CW – Image of work completed in class

Today in class I finished my second panel, I have more to do with my original first panel. I split the amount of time I worked on each panel. This allows me to generate more ideas and put them together. Then I worked on the negative space for some panels. I also played around with tools to create “hybrid” things. I now have 4 panels and I just have to fix them up and then print it.

Mon, Feb 10 HW – Image of completed homework

For homework, as you can see, I worked on the snowman’s negative space. I focused on its arms and other elements. This way, it can cut everything out except the snowman. The snowman can pop out, and you can notice it more.

Fri, Feb 7 CW – image of work completed in class

Today in class I just really worked on simplifying the snowflakes and started working on the snowman branches.

Fri, Feb 7 HW – image of completed homework

For homework, I just worked on all the negative space and fixed my layers adding more snowflakes.

Thur, Feb 5 CW – image of work completed in class

Today in class, I worked on my luminary design project. I attempted to connect the snowflakes to other ones attached to the edges. During class, I spent my time trying to fix things. They seemed out of place, and I had to fix them.

Wed, Feb 5 HW – image of completed homework

For homework, I worked on the negative space on my snowflakes. I think I should fix up their labels, and then I’ll be good, but I have to just keep working.

Wed, Jan 29 CW – Image of work completed in class

Today In class I was working on my snowflakes and working around more to get them perfect. I came up with the idea to do many of the ones I like. I use the pen tool, then I copy and paste them.

Wed, Jan 29 HW – Image of completed homework

For homework, I worked more on the negative space for my snowflakes and snowman.

Mon, Jan 27 CW – Image of work completed in class

In class, I was working on simplifying my snowflakes. I used the pen tool and curvature tool to draw my negative space. I still have a lot more snowflakes left. I’m already working on that, and I’m going to do that for homework.

Mon, Jan 27 HW – Image of completed homework

For homework, I was trying to simplify my snowflakes and snowman. It’s easy to cut out the negative space now. I am working on the snowman arms. I want to simplify that also.

Thur, Jan 23 CW – image of work completed in class

In class, I finished my whole project. I glued everything together to complete my pencil box. Now I’m going back to my original luminary project.

Thur, Jan 23 HW – image of completed homework

Today I went to GCAD during the consultation period, and I finished printing my last two layers, and they came out pretty well. I then sanded all the panels and am ready to glue everything together. Mr. Brodie said during class I can glue everything together, and he can help me because he said I would need at least another set of hands to hold it for me. After that, I’m done with the pencil box project, and I can go back to my old luminary project idea.

Tue, Jan 21 CW – image of work completed in class

Today in class, the printer was in use the entire time. I wasn’t able to print my two other layers. However, I tried to work on the negative space for my other project.

Tue, Jan 21 HW – image of completed homework

For this homework, I went to the GCAD. On Sunday, I printed two more panels—left and right, but not the middle. I only have two left to print. I am going to do it tomorrow. It looks like I’m making a lot of progress. After I finished that, I shaved and glued, then went back to my original luminary project.

Fri, Jan 17 CW – image of work completed in class

Today in class I worked on my snowflakes and stuff. I focused on fixing them. I deleted the things I thought would make it difficult to cut the negative space out. Mr. Brodie said I can come on Sunday. I will finish my pencil box project. I will sand it out and then glue it. I think I’m prepared for that.

Fri, Jan 17 HW – image of completed homework

For this Homework, I added Snowflakes in the sky to give the evil snowman more of a touch.

Wed, Jan 15 CW – image of work completed in class

I didn’t do anything today because it was a half day. The printers were occupied. I was just experimenting with ideas on what I add. So, I don’t really have anything to show.

Wed, Jan 15 HW – image of completed homework

For today’s homework, I went back to my original luminary project idea. I wanted an evil snowman Christmas theme, so I used the generative AI tool to create that.I also used AI to change the gray scale of the snowman. Then, I added a negative space layer and drew around it. I’m not sure if it’s going to come out good like that, so I have to ask Mr. Brodie in class tomorrow. For now, I just want to add that. If I have to change anything later on, I will decide to scratch this idea. I might try something else that will look cooler and be more effective with the wood printer.

Mon, Jan 13 CW – image of work completed in class

Today in class I worked on adding more negative space. I am going to cut it out. Then I switched some of the layers I had put on the etch and put them for the negative space. I am also waiting to print new 3 panels but the laser has been occupied by a line so Mr. Brodie said I can finish up all my panels at the beginning of the next class. I am just waiting for that. Then I can start up on my old luminary project. I began this project a few months ago in Arts and Design 1.

Mon, Jan 13 HW – image of completed homework

For this, I added the etch for the big red panel. The larrie with the L is already basically done. I can start the print for that one, but I have to ask Mr. Brodie about the first panel that looks the hardest. Aside from that, I think I’m set.

Thur, Jan 9 CW – image of work completed in class

Today in class, I used the pen tool and finished doing all the letters for my last panels. I am excited because I finally understand how to use the pen tool. I am getting better at it. Hopefully, when I start my other panels, everything comes out nice. I hope to have a nice luminary art panel thing going on in the end.

Thur, Jan 9 HW – image of completed homework

I switched gears a little bit. I am working on the lettering with the pen tool for the last panel. I don’t know if I can print the 2nd one yet. I decide to add some touch-ups or designs to that one. Then I’m ready to print it.

Tue, Jan 7 CW – image of work completed in class

Today, I adjusted the printer settings and chose the one I thought was perfect for my project. As shown in the image above, I reprinted my designs, which came out 100x better. Then, I started working on another panel. I added the negative space to the image. You can check the big red image in my earlier progress to see what I mean.

Tue, Jan 7 HW – image of completed homework

I did not really add much to this. I fixed the issue with deleting boxes. Now, the arms of the shirt don’t cut off when I redo my printing and burning. I also added an etch layer.

Tue, Dec 17 CW – image of work completed in class

In today class I did my first test print and it didn’t come out too bad. The only faults were that i kept the box which kinda made the arms cut out but not completely. Another con was that my gray scale of the dog and the shirt itself were too similar. As a result, I couldn’t really see my design. The L and dog couldn’t really stand out. Overall, I am working on fixing that. Then, I will do a second cut out to see if it looks better. I will also check if I need to work on anything else. I am also thinking about adding a vector etch to the project.

Tue, Dec 17 HW – image of completed homework

I didn’t really add anything. I think I am definitely ready for panel one for the shirt. I am ready to print and craft it out.

Fri, Dec 13 CW – Image of work completed in class

I did the negative space on my shirt on Friday, so it would cut out.

Fri, Dec 13 HW – Image of completed homework

I did not really add anything new to my block. I am ready for the in-class laser cut-out we are doing today.

Wed, Dec 11 CW – Image of work completed in class

Today, I continued to experiment with the generative AI. I combined different ideas I had and put them together. My ideas were all about “Lville sports,” I chose football for my project because that’s what I play. I also taught Mr.Brodie how to grayscale the AI pictures if it didn’t work too easily the original way

Wed, Dec 11 HW – Image of completed homework

Spoke to Mr.Brodie. I am trying to figure it all out because my illustrator couldn’t work to its potential. This issue is setting me back a little bit in this class.

Spoke to Mr.Brodie. I am trying to figure it all out because my illustrator couldn’t work to its potential. This issue is setting me back a little bit in this class.

Mon, Dec 9 HW – Image of completed homework

I just touched up the parts I wanted to cut out for this. Then, I fixed up the physical attributes I would like to be visible in my project. When I finish, the light will come out of those areas. I think this would be pretty cool.

Thur, Dec 5 CW – image of completed homework

Today, I started working on how to better my outline. I fixed the strokes on some of my pieces. I also added my design for the scarf, eyes, mouth, and nose. This was done to make my design more noticeable in the project.

Tue, Dec 3 CW – image of work completed in class

I started with a snowman illuminate light concept with snow and a tree. I want to cut out the black parts. Then I connected the snowman, tree, and snowflakes to the end of the box. This way it would connect and wouldn’t cut out. I chose this design because I thought it was pretty cool since Christmas is coming around.
