For homework, I worked on the thumbnail sketch and decided to combine the two themes and incorporated cyberpunk inspired elements into the tarot card and swapped the key visual elements from the original tarot card to some alternatives.
Week 2
Thu, Dec 11 CW – Image and description of completed classwork

In class today, I experimented with Adobe Illustrator’s Vector Generator AI to create some custom elements for the tarot cards, then started my thumbnail sketches for a tarot series based on the Sun, the Moon, the World, and the Star with each on one side of the lamp.
Thu, Dec 11 HW – Image and description of completed homework

For homework, I brainstormed some themes that I might be able to use in my luminary project.
1. Tarot Cards
Tarot cards often comes with an illustration with multiple layers with a subject and an unique world behind the subject creating room for negative space. I can assign one one card to each panel. To connect the panels with lines, I can connect each panel with lines by reusing repeting symbols or motifs like sun and moon on the margin of each panel.
2. A Cyberpunk Inspired city scape design
Each panel of the city themed design will a feature an aspect of the city from polluted wastedland to the bustling streets and skyscrapers. I can connect the panels with a shooting star flying over each panel.

Thu, Dec 4 CW – Image and description of completed classwork

Today, I explored the different effects that the vector generator can produce and attempted to outline the generated vector. However, I encountered an issue with sub layers as I was unable to create an outline for the dog.

Tue, Dec 2 CW – Image and description of completed classwork

I outlined the vector image and highlighted the negative spaces with the pen tool in black lines.
