Tue, Nov 11 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-11-11 Today in class I assembled my luminary design and also worked on my art history final project, I did a few new prompts and AI art works as most of my time was dedicated to assembling my luminary design.

Thur, Nov 6 CW – image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-11-6 Today in class i was able to succesfully print out another panel, it turned out just hpw i imagined it, my idea was to make it look more like the beach i would have the wood color and darker colors and thewn have my through cut serve as an extra outline of sorts for the actually image, I quite like the idea and think it turnwed out well especiall on the bottom I think ti truly looks like waves.

Tue, Nov 4 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-11-4 Today in class I worked on printing my panels. I was able to print 2 panels in class and now only have one left. However, I did have a problem with my 3rd panel and will unfortunately have to run it through again.

Tue, Nov 4 HW – image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-11-4 For homework I began developing my first ai image prompts for each of my artworks.

Prompt: Create a painting of a battle with angels, with very dramatic and intense realism, with the style of Caravaggio, oil on canvas
Prompt: Generate a piece focused on humanism, with Chiaroscuro and Sfumato, oil on contrast, and strong light V.S. dark contrast

Week 8

Fri, Oct 31 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-10-31

Today in class I worked on my Ai Art History project and completed my printed Mandela. I spent very little time on the mandela as I only had to connect everything to the mainframe and i did so with ease. Then I focused on beginning the research for my Ai art history project and I was actually able to complete it in clas today.

Impressionism was an art movement that emerged in the 1870s, focusing on landscapes and scenes of modern day life. The technique used for these art pieces were thick and loose brushstrokes with minimal blending, artists typically would plain blobs of color side by side that when looked at by the viewer would create an image. This movement turned away from a lot of the hierarchies and traditions favored by the French academy, making it revolutionary. Key artists for this movement include Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The impressionist movement gets its name from Claude Monet’s painting; Impression, soleil levant, which was exhibited at the first ever impressionist exhibit in 1874.
The Baroque style which originated in Rome in the early 17th century is often known for its intensity and dramatics. The aim of a Baroque art piece was to overwhelm the senses of the viewer, and they did so by using dramatic and intense realism. This style was used by the Catholic church for the counter reformation in order to inspire religion in others. This style was an incredibly useful tool because of the awe and grandeur it projected. However, as the Barque style began to spread it was used more commonly by monarchs and aristocracy, which meant it was often used for Secular purposes as well. One example of impressionist architecture is the Palace of Versailles, used by the French monarchy to project this sense of awe on its subjects in order to hold power. Key artists included Caravaggio, Rubens, Rembrandt, and Velázquez all of whom are key painters in the Baroque movement.
The Renaissance was likely one of the most revolutionary artist movements, beginning in the 14th century the Renaissance marked a shift from the medieval abstraction to more natural and human centered art pieces. It focused heavily on humanism, realism, and naturalism. One of the key artistic skills developed in this art period was mathematical perspective in art, which is what makes the Mona Lisa so famous today. New techniques were mastered during this time period: such as Chiaroscuro; the use of strong contrast between light and dark, or Sfumato; soft or hazy transitions between colors and tones. Key artists of this time period include Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. 

Fri, Oct 31 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-10-31 For homework i cont9nued to add to my mandela, and centered everything making sure all the layers were aligned with each other. I think I have now completed my mandela except I must now connect it to the main frame.

Wed, Oct 29 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-10-29 In class today I made sure everything on my middle and top layer was connected, and then I began adding to the artwork. I had simmilar goals to when I was doing the bottom layer and really wanted it to flow, I believe this worked well for me especially with my middle layer that I took a lot of time and care with in connecting everything.

Wed, Oct 29 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-10-29 For homework I made sur everything in my black bottom layer was connected to each other, this took my a while because I wanted the way the pieces connected to add to the art work instead of taking away from it and being usually standing out I wanted it to blend.

Week 7

Thur, Oct 23 CW – image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-10-23 Today in class I began working on my printed mandela, I searched for some inspiration as I wnated to do something different from my first 2 mandelas. I quite like how this mandela incorporates a lot of what I have done in both my mandelas so far and I like the direction it is going in.

Thur, Oct 23 HW – image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-10-23 Today for homework I completed my layered mandela, I finished my design and I made sure all of my work is connected to the mainframe layer. I overall really like this design and will use it for inspiration for my printed mandela.

Tue, Oct 21 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-10-21 Today in class I worked on my layered mandela. Since yesterday for homework i got rid of something to make sure there was more negative space today I took a different approach and I added more details without taking up so much space, at the end of class I also made sure all of m work was connected to the mainframe.

Fri, Oct 17 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-10-17 Today in class I started working on my layered mandela art work, I was able to follow the tutorial and then begin to add my own artistic creations into it and make it more my own. As you can see I changed a lot of the shapes and circles. next class I think I will have to work on making everything connected because i did not do that this class.

Mon, Oct 13 CW – Image and description of completed homework- CWDueDate 2025-10-13 Today in class I worked on y mandela. Unfortunately I had to start over because my work didnt save, however this time I believe it went better as I understood the instructions more, had more time, and asked clarifying questions. This allowed me to succeed in this process. My favorite part of the mandela is the outer most part because it was very fun to make. I was able to almost complete the first mandela in class.

Week 5

Thur, Oct 9 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-10-9 Today in class I completed all 4 panels I just need to print them. Then I focused on the new project we had to do. I watched the tutorial and then began to follow it, and I felt I was able to do a pretty good job.

Wed, Oct 1 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-10-1 Today in class I finished my first 2 panels, with all the linework and red line work completed. i signed myself up for a test print but there wasnt time in class. I then began to work on the line work for panel 3 and 4, I completed the linework for panel 3 and began working on panel 4.

Wed, Oct 1 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-10-1 For my homework I completed the line work on my first panel, it took me a long time because the buildings had a lot of detail. However, I think it was worth it because the detail really adds to the panel. Tomorrow in class hopefully I can do a test print of the first panel.

Mon, Sept 29 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-9-29 Today in class I did the line work for my first panel. I focused first on the piano, and then began on the backround. I think the line work is going very well ands you can clearly see my shapes and make them out even without the gray scale. I havent finished yet but i hope to finish for homework so that I can do a test print in class.

I ai generated the backround and then began working on the gray scale in the back, but I was not able to finish. I plan to continue working on it together.

Week 3

Thur, Sept 25 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-9-25 Today in class I worked on panels 2 and 3. I ai generated the backround and then worked on the gray scale of both backrounds, using the same shades from panel 1. I also did my red line work for the negative space, which took a while. Next class, I plan to ask about the figures I want to have in the sky like the sun or the bird and how that can tie in. All in all I believe it was a productive class and I made good progress on my project

Thur, Sept 25 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-9-25 Today for homework I worked on my red line for homework. I was able to complete most of it but am not sure if the figures in the middle should have negative space around them or not or if it should be reversed. I plan to ask about it in class tomorrow.

Tue, Sept 23 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-9-23 Today in class I worked on the keyboard acorss all 4 boards, I decided on a straighter shape and I think it worked well. I did the color grading for all the keyboards as well. I also worked on the backround on my first panel which is a city with a musical theme, and I plan on doing more backrounds like this with different scenery. I also did the color grading for the city which I put on an individual panel, and focused on the negative space in the backround and in the sky line of the city.

Tue, Sept 23 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-9-23 For homework I developed 2 of my sketches for the music theme that I have decided to go with, I wanted there to be some repetition for my panels so I did 2 that I plan to use twice. I liked the way the keyboard takes up most of the space with negqative space behind it. I might tweak my sketches according to how I used the negativ spacfe but for now this is my plan.

Week 2

Sat, Sept 20 CW – Image and description of completed homework. – CWDueDate 2025-9-20 Today in class I sketched out 2 of the themes I had chosen the night before. I sketched out the fairytale theme which reflects different fairytales from ym childhood across the four boards, I really liked this idea more than I thought I would the night before. I also had the music theme on the bottom which had a piano keyboard across it and music notes, I thought the theme was quite intrestiung and I did like it however it felt a bit repetitive. I tried to incorporate someone playing the pieano and an audience in the 3rd panel in order to replace some of the repetitivness and I believe it worked quite well however I am not sure what that would actually look like on the lumiere design. In the end I am not sure what theme I am going to choose but I will think about it over the weekend and decide before the next class.

Sat, Sept 20 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-9-20 The theme I have chosen for my luminary design is music. Across my life music has always been important to me, I like listening to it and discovering new bands. I also play the piano in my free time which is incredibly important to me, it reflects many of the values I hold today and has built them up over the years. SOme of thos values include patience, hard work, and passion. I have also made conncections to many people through music, wether it be connecting over a band or the incredibly close relationship I have woth my music teacher these connecitons are forged through music. My plan for the four panels is to have components of the piano, my intrument, in at least 2 and include musical notes and meaningful lyrics in the other. The panels with the piano can have a piano shape at the bottom and musical notes flowing up towards the top. For the other 2 panels I could choose lyrics that are important to me and engrave them into the panels as well as adding other notes and potentially important instruments from the song I chose my lyrics.

Thur, Sept 18 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-9-18 Today in class i worked on my red line for vector edging. Previously I was going to have ti so that my bouquet disconected from everything else but I fixed it so the negative space was behind the bouquet. I also printed at the end of class but was not able to finish due to time.

Thur, Sept 18 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-9-18 For todays homework i worked on the color grading of my image. I fixed most of the stuff towards the bottom trying to make more obvious shapes in my image. I also attempted to chang some shapes but could not figure it out so I left it as is.

Mon, Sept 15 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-9-15 Today in class I worked to finalize my project for the laser cutter. I simplified my line work as much as possible and I also did the red line work, outlining my shape for the negative space. Additionally, I turned on the visibility of my line work layer and gray scale layer in order to do my color grading in accordance to my line work. This helped my color gradng make more sense and atch my line work. I have all my different layers completed and ready to go but unfortunately was not able to go as there were to many people. infront of me and not enough time.

Mon, Sept 15 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-9-15 For the homework I focused on my line work. I wanted to really simplify the line work because at the beggining of my project it was very complicated. However, I also wanted to keep the integrity of the shapes and details so I ended up doing a lot of back and forth between deleting something and bringing it back.

Tue, Sept 9 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-9-9: Today we worked on familiarizing ourselves with the pen tool and the generate Ai tool. I Ai generated a bouquet of lilies. Then I switched the gradient to make it black and white. Once it was black and white I went in and fixed a couple of thing to try to add more contrast to my image.
