Explore the Artistic Process Through Digital Fabrication

In this class, you’ll use digital tools to bring your ideas to life. The goal is to foster creativity while learning how technology can improve precision, expand what’s possible, and help you combine traditional craft with digital making. Your projects will be hands-on, idea-driven, and built using a blend of art and design skills.

Design Challenges

Each design challenge you take on in this class will follow a project-based structure that’s built around the design thinking process: define, ideate, prototype, fabricate, and reflect. This means you’ll start by understanding the problem, come up with ideas, test them out, build your final design, and then take time to reflect on what you learned. It’s a hands-on, creative process that helps you grow as both a designer and a thinker.

Documenting Your Process

Documenting your process on the class blog is a required part of the course. This ongoing assignment asks you to regularly reflect on your work and use writing as a tool to develop and refine your ideas. By tracking your progress through writing, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of your design decisions, strengthen your creative thinking, and build a record of your growth throughout each project.
