Not much happened for homework. I kept looking at inspiration. I’m having a really hard time on how I want my piece to fit into my room because there’s not a lot of space in my room, but if I want my piece to be custom fit, I also don’t want it to look bad without the vinyl player, so I’m in a ditch right now. It’s either the 3d printed kind of mood lamp feeling or a wood cut design flower kind of thing.

I finished cutting out my second and my 3rd panel in class. I only have one more panel to go. Shouldn’t be that hard. I messed up my 2nd panel one time, after a mistake a few classes ago. Thank god no mistakes 3rd panel, praying for the 4th one.

I redid my luminary base, and I started thinking about my lamp. It’s going to be made out of 3d printed material, and I think I might make something related to this. maybe with paper in the inside for more of a luminary feel.

For HW, I went during consul, but couldn’t print. For my concept sketch, I’m going to make a lamp shaped like a flower that points down, has a base that slides under my vinyl record player and has a flower design upside down. This way, it solves my problem of the light.

I have a vinyl player and I always struggle with light there. I think I am going to make my design so that it is custom made to my vinyl player. I think I’m going to take some dimensions from my vinyl playing and figure out some way to incorperate a 3d printed part. I don’t think I’m going to use etching in this lamp. I think I’ll make a lamp that shadows over the vinyl player, and use white filament from the 3d printer to make a hollow 3d object and put the light inside to make a glowing ambient light effect.

I need some help doing the finishing touches on my 1st two figures, I also added a scoreboard to my panel, I don’t know how to do the retracing. I had a really hard time finding a good scoreboard picture. I tried using a cartoonify ai thing but it didn’t work. I then tried ai generation and it came out better.

I finally got the green light from Mr. Brodie. I’m changing the second panel to horizontal, and I’m going to make it so that it’s a close up. I find that generating images is going to be a hard process. the AI has no idea what it’s doing, so i’m going to try to search up images and maybe, just perhaps, maybe I can pull through. I might pull it through a filter to “Cartoonify” some real images.

I reviewed all of the grading syllibus stuff, but I only find that you need to choose a personal theme. I checked with Mr. Brodie, but apparently you need to include yourself inside the design. It never said that we had to put ourselves in the design, but to choose a personal theme. Other people have designs that are about themes that don’t include themselves in the design. I’m not sure why I have to include myself. I’ve drawn out another concept for approval for Mr. Brodie. I find it very frustrating that I’m still stuck on this step. for some reason, I have a hard time uploading my image to the blog page. I’ll try again in class. I also need to make the small sketch the one size bigger.

Started working on my 4th concept sketch, I checked with Mr. Brodie and he said that it doesn’t work because it doesn’t convey my personal connection. I’ve decided that I’m going to scrap this project, and I’m switching over to another idea because the design isn’t going to look good. I’m switching to swimming. Swimming is a really big part of me. I’ve spent many countless hours in the water and so it has changed me in many ways. For the first panel, I want to have a picture of me jumping off of a block, because I want the panels to look like a story board. for the 2nd slide, I’m going to include a picture of me swimming butterfly, which is my main stroke/event. My 3rd slide will consist of me talking to my coach as the end of my event, and my last slide will be a picture of my finished time on the wall, and me looking at my time.

I went to consultation and had Mr. Brodie check my drawings. I’m going to base my design off of a Chinese legend/saying/idiom “画龙点睛”. There once was a famous painter called Zhang Sengyao. He was extremely good at drawing. One time he drew 4 dragons on the wall of a temple but left out the eyes. When people asked him why he didn’t include eyes in his dragons, he replied with a shocking answer; the dragons would come alive if he included eyes in the drawing. People didn’t believe him, so he included eyes in 2 of the 4 dragons on the wall. as soon as he did, there was thunder and rumbling, and the 2 dragons on the wall actually came alive. In the end, this idiom symbolizes that completing a project/adding finishing touches really brings something to life. Going an extra step makes something truly complete. My parents have always reminded me of this idiom in my early days, and that’s why it’s important to me. It’s a memory that’s engraved into me. I’ve decided that I’m going to make a little me doing homework and my parents standing next to me, and above me with dragons flying around.

You know what? I think I’m going to follow a type of chinese lantern style. On 3 of the panels, I think I’m going to make dragon that connects across and maybe I’m going to add like a character like traditional window paper cutting styles. this way, I can integrate my own creativity while still following a specific style.

Today I finished printing my 1st project. It went smoothly. the settings were 6/100/15 for vector, 60/50 for the soft vector, and I dont remember the etching settings. I’ve also changed my mind about my design. I’m gonna work on the wave off kanagawa. It’s gonna look sick because I’m going to be able to cover it with blue paint. never mind. apparently it has to be something I create on my own. I’m still thinking of a traditional japanese drawing, because it doesn’t incorporate many colorful colors and its very “line art”-ish.

I’m imagining a kind of overlapping waves kind of texture, with blue paint behind to enhance the look. I’ve looked at some inspiration and I might make a moving mechanism or something
