Wed, May 14 CW- image of work completed in class
In class, I created the adobe illustrator sketches and got the pieces of wood that I will need to use.

Wed, May 14 HW – image of completed homework
Since I have completed my model and my illustrator designs, I didn’t have anything to do for homework.
Mon, May 12 CW- image of work completed in class
In class, I completed cutting out my second cardboard model.

Mon, May 12 HW – image of completed homework
For homework, I exported my files into a folder, so that when I got to class, I could immediately start printing and get my second cardboard model done.
Week 8
Thu, May 8 CW- image of work completed in class
In class, I waited for one of the machines, and got one at the end of class. I was able to complete 2 of my components in that time.

Thu, May 8 HW – image of completed homework
For homework, I continued trying to get a good sketch with Illustrator.
Tue, May 6 CW- image of work completed in class
In class, I added the bookshelf part of the design. Then, I exported my designs into Illustrator and started to try to get a good AI generated image. I got some good ones, as I have pasted below.

Tue, May 6 HW – image of completed homework
For homework, I completed the acrylic design light. Next, I am going to create a book holder on the right side of the organizer, so that my sister can put her books there. This will have a flower design on the end, and the left side will have this same design so that the two sides are symmetrical.

Week 7
Fri, May 2 CW- image of work completed in class
not in class — sick
Fri, May 2 HW – image of completed homework
For homework, I decided to make my design more detailed. First, I will create an acrylic light display to engrave with a design. This will make the design more complex and flashy. I will also add more storage on the sides of it, making the design wider and able to fit more stuff.

Wed, Apr 30 CW- image of work completed in class
In class, I tried to print but I didn’t get here fast enough to get a printer. For homework, I am going to import my illustrator designs from my home computer to this one, so that I can bring the designs to class and etch them onto my wood. I might also decide whether to make my design a little bigger, because my design currently a little simple. To do this, I will create either more paper holders or more specific holders for different items that my sister needs. I might also put the cut out designs at the top, so that it is more complex.
Wed, Apr 30 HW – image of completed homework
For homework, I completed my design and I didn’t have anything else to design, so I exported all the files to a folder in a dxf so that I can print next class.
Mon, Apr 28 CW- image of work completed in class
In class, I cut out the rest of my parts for the cardboard prototype. When I completed it, I looked at it and decided a few things: I was going to put feet on it so that it would be elevated off the desk, I would have one more pencil holder so that it was fully behind the phone holder, and also I am going to add a picture frame in the open space on the right.

Mon, Apr 28 HW – image of completed homework
For homework, i edited my design so that the pencil holder had joinery, because it didn’t before. I also created a notch in the wood to hold the phone standby dock, which I will print out on my printer at home soon.

Week 6
Thu, Apr 24 CW- image of work completed in class
In class, I cut out some of my parts and taped them together. Next class, I will cut out the remaining parts and put my cardboard prototype together.

Thu, Apr 24 HW – image of completed homework
For homework, I downloaded the rest of my fusion dxf files so that I can start printing right away during class.
Tue, Apr 22 CW- image of work completed in class
In class, I started my cardboard prototype by creating sketches for all the sides and exporting them to a flash drive. Unfortunately, Max took the entire class cutting his parts, so I couldn’t get anything done. I did get one good illustrator image, which I will show below.

Tue, Apr 22 HW – image of completed homework
For homework, I looked at Illustrator and messed around with the AI-Generated Art feature. I forgot to save my work, so I don’t have an image to post here.
Week 5
Thu,, Apr 17 CW- image of work completed in class
No CW – sports
Thu, Apr 17 HW – image of completed homework
For homework, I imported my magnetic standby phone stand into fusion and placed it into my design.

Tue, Apr 15 CW- image of work completed in class
Today, I learned how to use Illustrator and how to create ai-generated vectors and images. I also continued with my fusion design, finishing the pencil holder.

Tue, Apr 15 HW – image of completed homework
For homework, I downloaded illustrator, which took a long time. I worked on my fusion file, but I didn’t get any substantial work done.
Week 4
Fri, Apr 11 CW- image of work completed in class
In class today, I jointed all of the parts together so that they don’t move around when I click on one. I also created my two drawers, making sure that there is enough clearance so that it slides evenly. I also created slider joints with it, allowing it to slide back and forth in the design.

Fri, Apr 11 HW – image of completed homework
For homework, I worked on my organizer by creating the right side and combining all the parts together so the joinery works. I didn’t do that before, so I fixed it.

Wed, Apr 9 CW- image of work completed in class
In class, I started to design my desktop organizer. I started with the left side, and created the two back parts and two bottom parts from there.

Wed, Apr 9 HW – image of completed homework
For homework, I talked with my client. She said that the design looks good, but she also told me that she wants more designs on the sides, so I will also put designs there. She also said that she wants the charger, if possible, to be wireless, so I will look into that and see if its possible.
Mon, Apr 7 CW- image of work completed in class
In class, I continued my drawings and created my final sketch for the desktop organizer. I will show my client this drawing, and adjust my final product based on the comments.

Mon, Apr 7 HW – image of completed homework
For homework, I posed more questions, to define what my design will look like even more.
- What are your interests?
- I like soccer, and I like listening to music like taylor swift and other artists like that.
- What would you like to show on the organizer?
- A picture, but I would also like there to be engravings in the wood of my interests, and other things that are important to me.
Week 3
Thu, Apr 3 CW- image of work completed in class
Here is my actionable problem statement:
The person that I am making this desktop organizer for needs a place to store pencils and pens and loose sheets of paper that don’t have a place to go. My person says that the desk space is always cluttered and can’t find any paper of pencil that they need. This person also needs a place to charge their phone and AirPods, because they always forget to do that. For this organizer, I am going to build a first layer with drawers for pens and pencils and other small items, and then on the second layer, I am going to put a phone stand with a charger and an airpods charger. Behind that, there will be an alcove for notebooks or papers.
Here is my two concept sketches:

Thu, Apr 3 HW – image of completed homework
For homework, I interviewed my person. Here are the responses to my questions:
- What do you need a desktop organizer for?
- To store my pens and pencils, maybe a notebook or calculator. It could also have chargers, so that all of my stuff is organized.
- What would you like to put in/on your organizer?
- Pencils, pens, notebooks, and maybe my phone so that it charges
- How will you use your organizer?
- I will use it to clean up my desk, so that my pens and paper aren’t all over my desk and so that I can find things easier.
- How often will you use the organizer?
- every day when I do my homework
- Give me a description of what you will do with the organizer.
- store my items, charge my devices
- How big do you have on your desk for an organizer? Are there limits to the size?
- Not really, my desk is relatively big, so there aren’t size constraints. I would like it to be normal sized, not too big or small
- What design would you like to be on the organizer?
- Are there any other constraints/needs that I need to know?
- No
Tue, Apr 1 CW- image of work completed in class
In class, I finished my phone stand. All the hinges work, and my phone sits nicely in the stand.

I also started to produce my question for the next project, the desktop organizer. Here are the questions that I developed:
- What do you need a desktop organizer for?
- What would you like to put in/on your organizer?
- How will you use your organizer?
- How often will you use the organizer?
- Give me a description of what you will do with the organizer.
- How big do you have on your desk for an organizer? Are there limits to the size?
- What design would you like to be on the organizer?
- Are there any other constraints/needs that I need to know?
Tue, Apr 1 HW – image of completed homework
For homework, I imported the phone and found out that my phone stand was a little bit too small for my phone. I adjusted all the sketches, but the hinges were all messed up so I had to fix it.

Week 2
Sat, Mar 29 CW – image of work completed in class
Today in class, I made all of the material and pins thicker. I also helped Arav to make his hinge, because he was having trouble with that.

Sat, Mar 29 HW – image of completed homework
For homework, I fixed the stabilizer hinge and made sure that it actually moved. Before, something broke and it didn’t work and was very glitchy.

Thur, Mar 27 CW – image of work completed in class
In class today, I made the stand stabilizer and made a way to adjust the angle securely. The stabilizer has a hinge that controls the angle of the stand.

Thur, Mar 27HW – image of completed homework
For homework, I continued designing my phone stand by putting in a hinge and filleting the edges.

Tue, Mar 25 CW- image of work completed in class
In class, I started designing my phone stand.

Tue, Mar 25 HW – image of completed homework
For homework, I thought of more designs for my phone stand and decided that the first or second design was the best. The first design, the tent, would be more practical, and I think I will do that first, but the second would be more creative and would be something I might do as a challenge.
Week 1
Sat, Mar 22 CW- image of work completed in class
Today I started to think of designs for my phone stand and started to draw out different ideas.
Problem Statement: I want to create something that I can use so that my phone is standing up so that I can do other things while my phone is stood up. It also needs to be able to change angles to get the optimal viewing angles for every position.

Thu, Mar 20 CW- image of work completed in class
Because fusion was down today, I continued creating ideas for my iphone stand and did the homework, which included reading a pdf and submitting a google form about it.
