Luminary Assignment – Final project

Luminary Assignment – Reading day
During reading day, I print out my second luminary design and put it together using wood glue. I made sure to sand it down enough and to stick the backing paper on precisely so no edges would come out.

Luminary Assignment – Classwork 25/05/23
During class today, I continued with my Fusion model of my second luminary and successfully made a mechanical-looking flower in Fusion which went with my industrial mechanic theme. I made some slight adjustments to make each of the pieces flow a little and have continuation of line throughout the pieces.

Luminary Assignment – Homework due 25/05/23
For homework, I continued making the designs for my “mechanical flower” themed luminary. I used the dimension tool to make sure all the bridge structures were equally spaced apart in terms of thickness so that it would keep a uniform look, fitting the mechanical theme. However, I also made care to vary up line thickness in other areas so that the design would have a wide variety of interesting things to focus on.
Luminary Assignment – Classwork 24/05/23
During class, I finished gluing all the parts together using wood glue. I made sure to glue all the sides together and then used elastics to keep everything together while it dries. I also made the bottom of the candle holder in Fusion to be 3D printed out later.

Luminary Assignment – Homework due 24/05/23
For homework, I got to work putting my drawn-out designs onto Fusion. I first drew out the outlines of all the luminary faces, then made sure that each of the outside edges was 0.5in away from the designs and used the offset tool to draw guidelines to help me keep the designs inside the edge.
Luminary Assignment – Classwork 22/05/23
During class today I worked on gluing together my first luminary with the colored paper at the back. I used tape to hold the paper and the luminary in place while I glued it. I then left it on a tabletop to dry and continued with the final designs for my second luminary.

Luminary Assignment – Homework Due 22/05/23
For homework, I finally figured out a design for my second luminary model. I took care to incorporate similar traits from my first luminary model so that they would be a flower-themed set of luminaries.

Luminary Assignment – Classwork 18/05/23
During class today, I painted the second layer of my luminary colored paper using watercolor to make sure that there would be more pigment on the paper thus allowing the light which shines through to be more colored. I also printed out my luminary successfully and sanded it down.

Luminary Assignment – Homework Due 18/05/23
For homework, I did some research on possible luminary centrepieces which i could centre my luminary around. I drew out more sketches for my second luminary.
Luminary Assignment – Classwork 17/05/23
During Class, I started painting my paper which I would later stick onto the luminary to make the light coming out colored, I borrowed water and watercolor from the painting class and used the wave technique to apply as much pigment as I could onto the paper, whilst still making sure the colors blended into each other.
Luminary Assignment – Homework due 17/05/23
For homework, I continued drawing sketch designs for my second luminary. I experimented with multiple styles and mediums, but was unable to find a good base on which to continue.

Luminary Assignment – Classwork 15/05/23
During class today, I drew out more sketches for my Luminary. I also talked with Mr Brodie to go over my sketch designs and received feedback on how to improve them so that they would all flow together.
Luminary Assignment – Homework due 15/05/23
For homework, I brainstormed ideas for my next luminary and drew out some design sketches.

Luminary Assignment – Classwork 12/05/23
During class, I finished my final luminary sketch for the last face and made a base where I could put the candle. I exported all files as DXF files and put them into the GCAD 3 USB drive.

Luminary Assignment – Homework due 12/05/23
For Homework, I continued making my sketch in fusion. I finished making two of my face designs and finished the third one over the weekend as well. I used the 3 point arch tool to create the curves and figured out how to use the spline tool to make the curves as natural and flowy as possible.

Luminary Assignment – Classwork 04/05/23
During class, I continued on making the designs and worked with Mr Brodie to fix the issue I had with the Spline tool, as because of it I had to rework my design multiple times.

Luminary Assignment – Homework due 04/05/23
For Homework, I continued working on moving my sketches into Fusion. I did the curves using the Spline tool and then offset the curves to create the wooden piecing.

Luminary Assignment – Classwork 01/05/23
During class I asked for Mr Brodie’s advice on the sketches and made improvements on them by adding in curves and circles to make each panel flow together more.

Luminary Assignment – Homework due 01/05/23
For homework, I drew out designs that flowed together in the symmetric style of Frank Lloyd Wright. I then drew out designs that were asymmetrical and continued in shape from one face to another.
Luminary Assignment – Classwork 27/04/23
During class I made some edits to the fusion model so that all of the separate sketch parts were connected and able to be extruded.

Luminary Assignment – Classwork 26/04/23
During class, I designed the second face of my luminary. I went for a simpler design of a flower so that when it projects onto the walls, it would be more balanced. I plan to keep with the mystical theme however, and add in some butterflies and a fairy to make it more aesthetic

Luminary Assignment – Classwork 20/04/23
During class, I got started on making a Luminary instead as the 3D printer couldn’t print out my desktop organiser design. I asked my person what kind of Luminary she would like, and she replied something mythical. So I decided to go with a dragon design on one face, and planned to decorate the other faces with stars, butterflies and other mythical creatures. During class I made the sketch for the dragon face.
Desktop Organiser Assignment – Classwork 17/04/23
During class, I learned how to set up a 3D printer and changed the filament of the printer to the size needed. I then exported my design into the printer and set it up to start printing.

Desktop Organiser Assignment – Homework Due 17/04/23
For homework, I got to work exporting all the parts into lulzbot and saving it on my desktop so that next class i could start printing the pieces. I hid the pieces that I already exported to make it easier to keep track of what I’d already saved and what I hadn’t.

Desktop Organiser Assignment – Classwork 15/04/23
During class, I split up the front face triple heart design using the split body tool and learned how to use the chamfer tool to adjust the indentation of the shape.

Desktop Organiser Assignment – Homework Due 15/04/23
for homework, I got to work splitting up the large pieces so that they could fit into Lulzbot and splitting up the bodies to make it easier to export onto the application and 3D printer.

Desktop Organiser Assignment – Classwork 13/04/23
During class today I downloaded the Cura Lulzbot app and exported my pieces into it. We then found out that they were too big, an so I talked with Mr Brodie about possible solutions and we tried to figure out how to best alter the design.

Desktop Organiser Assignment – Homework due 13/04/23
For homework, I finished off my Fusion 360 Model for my person’s desktop organiser and then made some final edits and adjustments to the back plates to make sure that they would 3D print easily. I also used AI to design a logo with her initials to print on the back of the organiser.

Desktop Organiser Assignment – Classwork 10/04/23
During class, I watched youtube videos to figure out how to scale up a sketch (as there were many mini pieces to the sketch) and then made some edits to the flower sketch tracing to make it look more compatible with the overall back plate placing.

Desktop Organiser Assignment – Homework due 10/04/23
for homework i learned how to import photos into fusion and traced the outline of my desired pattern and logo. I also created a logo for my friend’s name to place at the back panel of the organiser.

Desktop Organiser Assignment – Classwork 06/04/23
During class today I presented my Fusion model to the class and received feedback on how to make it better. I then improved on the design by creating the notebook storage space separately so it’s easy to 3D print.

Logo Designs using AI
