Tonight for homework I moved my ceiling of the box into a dxf file and imported the file into illustrator. After that I went online to find an ice rink to add for a design on top of ceiling for decoration and found one I liked at https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fpngtree.com%2Ffreepng%2Fhockey-field-rink-pitch-ice_8141915.html&psig=AOvVaw2WAZMoXfNFq1rIDvhy43MP&ust=1746059634869000&source=images&cd=vfe&opi=89978449&ved=0CBcQjhxqFwoTCMC6mr7D_owDFQAAAAAdAAAAABAE

Thu, Apr 17 HW – image of completed homework
Tonight for homework I finished the different parts of trying to make the photo black and white scaled. I used the mask feature and then afterward I uploaded it to the illustrator. I then created a Dxf file and uploaded the design to fusion however it was not very successful.

Tue, Apr 15 CW- image of work completed in class

Today we worked on adobe, I focused on how to outline my hockey player and add the specific highlights to the player. I used the greyscale and masking features to perfect the different levels of brightness.

Tue, Apr 15 HW – image of completed homework
Tonight for homework I spent a good amount of time figuring out how to lay out the joints between the pieces. I specifically worked on the back wall which I created the second wall and laid out the joints such that the walls would fit, while still having space for the drawers wall to fit. After that I created the floor of the drawer.

Today in class I created the first half of the desktop organizer. I started by laying out all of the dimensions on the left sketch and then created the box for the drawer to sit in. I made sure to add in all of the needed areas such that the pieces can be joined together with glue. and I then extruded the walls up in the left side and back. After that I created the actual walls for the drawer and left enough space so that is slides in and out easily.

Wed, Apr 9 HW – image of completed homework
Today for homework I measured out my roommates desk and figured out exactly how much space he has to work with. He said “I want to keep my mat on the desk and have the folders behind my computer mat.” After that I decided to change the dimensions of which side would be longer. I made the first component with the drawer to be longer, and the other on would be a little bit deeper. I also started my designs for the drawer and the hockey sticks for the separators between folders.

Mon, Apr 7 CW- image of work completed in class

Today in class I started my final sketch for my desktop organizer, I decided to have two main parts of the design. The first part of the design will be the drawer, It will allow him to store pencils and other small items. In order to not have the top be boring, I have decided to add a design of an ice rink to the top. The second part of the design will be the stick rack which will have 5 sticks to separate the area into 6 spots. This allows him to have a folder or binder for each period A-F. In between the hockey sticks will be 6 outlines of him skating on the ice.
Problem statement: After talking to my roommate Aiden, I found quite a few different problems that he was dealing with. First, Aiden was looking for a solution to his messy work area specifically fixing his problem of having little space to fit his binders and folders for each class. Secondly, his area has no specific place for his pens and pencils to be placed in. Hence he is always asking me for a pencil because he losses them after two days. Third, his area does not have enough space for a tall box structure. His desk only has space for a L shaped design to allow his entire computer on the desk.

Creating sketches for the interview is a great idea and a good use of your class time. For Monday’s homework, please include the feedback you receive on the sketches, along with the answers to your questions.
Following the design thinking process, you will write an actionable problem statement. You will then sketch four different designs using the problem statement as a guide. – 95%
Today in class I reviewed my design thinking guide and created 3 sketches which might help my friend think about what they need inside of an organizer. I added many different components and drawers to help him tackle different tasks. https://lvilledesign.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/design-thinking-process-guide.pdf

Today in class I added two bolts to my butt hinge in order to create some friction. After creating the bolts I then jointed them to the hinge. After I made the hinges I created a stop for the phone to lay on. This stop is in order to stop the phone from sliding down the pan. I added a soft layer of foam to stop the phone from being damaged

Today in class I formed the sketch in fusion of the pan. After creating my sketch I extruded the base of the pan and then added the handle using an ellipse to round the end out. I worked on many different styles instead of a hinge like a cylinder and a square but I decided the ellipse would fit best.
