for homework tonight I touched up my negative space adding just the right amount for it to be a lamp.

Today, I cut out two of my panels in class after making a couple of adjustments with Mr. Brodie. I made sure they were connected to the outside frame enough so that enough light would shine through.

For homework tonight I completed all panel’s negative space and etching. I will now be able to print them out in class tomorrow. I also added some stars to the background on the one to add a little pop and something new. I thought it would be a cool way for light to come through.

Week 9

In class i spent all my time doing some vector etching around the mountains working towards the final project and being able to cut out some prints.

For Homework I played around with the contrast values of all my panels finding the right amont to get what i want to pop from the rest of the panel. Remebering how the different greys dont come out the different i will bve working with more blacks and whites.

In class today i finally completed all negative space for all my panels. Now for homework i will complete some etching to hopefully be able to print a panel next class.

Toinight i spent a couple hours working on some fine detailing of the nagtive space. Outlining the trees and the bushes that go around the ice rink. Tomorrow i hope to complete all neagtive space and etch out some detailing.

In class today I kept working on the nagative space for my panels. My panels have a lot of deatil so it takes a lot of time. I will have to work extra hard these next few hw and cw periods to finish it up but it will be fun.

Tonight for homework I Changed up how i am desgining my third panel. It will have the most negative space out of all my panels. Adding a way for more light to come through. I also worked more on the first and second panel with the contrast as always.

Week 8

Fri, Feb 7 CW – image of work completed in class

In class today i completed the negative space of my third panel and was thinking of different ways to add a little bit more to the 2 and 3 panel. I tried some different things and will continue with that for homework on the weekend. I also kept working with my first panel of creating good high contrast with whits blacks and different shades of gray.

for homework tonight i contiuned on the neagtive space for a solid 45 minutes as doing all the trees takes a lot of time. You can see in pink all the details that go into doing the trees and will continue working on this tomorrow.

In the short class today i started to work on my 3 panel following the same as the other 2. making the trees negative and creating a good amount of contrast within the image.

For homework tonight I tried to make the tree branches sharper and clean up the trees because when i zoomed in i notcied that the edges where not very crisp. So tonight i redid some of the neagtive space and played around with different etching ideas.

Continued to work the negaitive space the greyscale value for the second image. Also adding some etching to the first to create good pop.

For homework i completed all the neative space in the first panel going back and redoing some tress to make the edges more crisp. Also i thought out the best way display this piece of art.

Today in class i outlined all my neagtive space and changed some of the greyscale value in the mountsains. I am trying to create areas for lots of light to come through with also having a detailed image.

For homework tonight i worked on the negative spaces of my designs trying different things to get the best image and area for the light to shine through.

Week 6

In class today I completed my box and got it all glued. Now that I have completed my pencil box I have started my luminary. I went a different route than I started last night and as of now, my luminary is a Canadian theme.

For homework today I started my luminaire project where I hope to install a theme of god and putting your trust in god. I look forward to starting this project.

In class i completed my panels. They are now all cut out, next class i will sand and glue to create my final box. lots of cuts and test prints where made to complete this process and it will be pretty cool when its glued next class.

I made the ordiments darker and the star to hopfully get another layer of pop out of the tree this was my panel with the most conctent changes that i was always making trying to get it the way I want. hopefully this one does the trick and i can finish and move on.

Today in class I cut out more panels and unfournently my piece of wood was not big enough so i still have one more to be cut out next class. I should be able to wrap this project up very soon.

Today for homework I tried to fix my negaiitve spaces as last classs when i tried to print them not all of them where succesfull. I am hoping these will be sucessful and i can wrap up my project soon.

For homework tonight I added even more greyscale value to my tree and a lighter firplace to make the tree really pop out of the wood. The fireplace is supposed to be lighter as it is in the background in a far. The tree is the main picture hense why i spent even more time adding lots of detail to create a nice panel.

In class today i completly finished my designs and waiting for the laser cutter but never got the oppurtunity to print. Now all my images have high contast and vector ethcing that will make the images pop from the wood. I hope to be able to print and finish this assignment next class.

For homework tonight I worked on my tree. In class i tried a test print where the side burnt out and the tree did not pop the way i would of liked so tonight i changed the sides to not burn out and added even more grey scale to the tree to hopful create a better pop from the fire place.

Week 4

In class today, I made my final panel. I am happy with the changes I made and will now use the knowledge I have gained to create better panels for the rest of the project. I also worked on my second panel in class today and will continue on it for homework to be prepared to print the remaining panels.

Tonight for homework, since I really want to see how this version of my Wants Claus will turn out, I made similar changes to my next image to create another popping image for my box. I also added different grey scale values to the fireplace behind the tree.

Today, we discussed adding some contrast to Santa’s coat alongside my etching to really make this image pop. As my turn never came with the laser cutters today, the first thing next class will be to cut out and see how it looks. I also added more etching to the beard.

For homework today I tried to add some etching designs to Santa’s beard. In the last class, I used the laser cutter and decided to add some more detail.

Today I cut out my first pannel and saw that I need to add some etching to wants beard and knowing that I will add some etching to all pannels.

For Homework tonight I finished the negitive space around my images and have as of right now my final product. Next class I will look to cut a pannel on the lazer cutter and see if any changes need to be done but as of now I have finished my design.

Today in class i finialized the pictures I am going to use and started to trace out the negative space. I have some pannels with more negative space then opthers to add some variety to my project.

For homework tonight I just added some finiishing touched to the design i Want to try in class tomorrow. Adding some chritsmas lights across the top of all pannels to give it more detail.

Today in class I continued to explore with the generated AI to create a holiday theme project. I used many different images finding the ones I liked the most and making them greyscale. I changed everything from my homework last night and created 4 new pannels. my searches: black and white santa, christmas tree with presents undearneath in black white, christmas gingerbread man in greyscale, christmas snowman in greyscale.

For homework today, I used the Ai generated in Adobe to create more holiday drawings. I tried out many different concepts and liked these ones the best. I like the simpler but meaningful images.

Today for homework I decided to redo the black part around my tree to make it more crisp around the corners of the tree. I found my first design there was white peeking through so I took my time to redo that and make it better. One feature that I decided to keep was a bit of a lop sided tree because It’s a traditional joke within my family for many years so I wanted to feel like home. I also started an outline of another design I Like.

I decided to do a Christmas tree because the holidays are approaching. I have a pretty basic theme with a snow hill and my etch layer is the ornaments on the tree. I look forward to creating more panels and expressing my love for the holidays through them.
