Week 8
Thu, May 8 CW- image of work completed in class

Today in class, I made sure to show where all my pieces were and how I would print them so I could find out how much wood I need next class. I rearanged them in different ways and made sure it could be minimalized.
Thu, May 8 HW – image of completed homework

Today for homework I changed an image that doesnt work with an image that was black and white and had a sketch over it so I could avoid multiple black spots and use more outlines. I think I am finished with all my designs now and I will start printing them out.
Tue, May 6 CW- image of work completed in class

Today in class I made sure that the hinge was the correct dimensions and addd it inside my design. Also, I attempted my new drawing I put on my back but it came out a little bit weird and I found several other ones and I will attempt to print them. However, there was a huge line that prevented me from doing them so I will try to do it next class .
Tue, May 6 HW – image of completed homework

Today for homework I extended my hinge and made sure that it fits my design in the place I want it so that it is longer and it is fixed with my door. Also I changed my art design for my drawings and I will test them out because I found out it will not look as aesthetic as I intended it to be.
Week 7
Fri, May 2 CW- image of work completed in class

Today I practiced another drawing to engraved and found out it didnt work very well. I also attempted to scale my door hinge but found out it would be too small and the measurements dont fit in so I would have to change and switch it up by making it larger
Fri, May 2 HW – image of completed homework

For homework I changed my design and I will test it out during class because I found out that it does not print very well. I changed it and made sure that I carefully chose differnt designs so that they fit eachother and they all relate to the preferences of my friend. With this finished I think I should test out the rest of my designs and if they are good I will start printing out my design.
Wed, Apr 30 CW- image of work completed in class

Today in class I practiced engraving a different drawing I was going to use. It does not look as well as I had intended it to so I will consider to change my drawing or completely remove it. However, the engraving had showed me that some images I need to use should be more simple and should hold more detail.
Wed, Apr 30 HW – image of completed homework

Today for homework I finished my designs and will print them all out next class. I think that these designs are all images of what my friend noah has a liking towards and I carefully picked them out. I also made sure to add logos like nike which he wears alot and add characters he likes. He also told me that he wnants the first letter of his last name so I added that under his name.
Mon, Apr 28 CW- image of work completed in class

Today in class, I practiced printing with adobe and printed a picture of drake. Also, I fixed my drawer and made sure the distance between the sides and edges were 1/16th of an inch so that my drawer is not too small. I had to change my drawer and I eventually fixed it and added a hole so people could add a finger and pull it.
Mon, Apr 28 HW – image of completed homework

Today for homework I added more pixtures to my design and worked on it on adobe. I added pictures of my friend noah and his favorite hockey player Adam Fox. I also added his favorite hockey team the new york rangers onto the sides.
Week 6
Thu, Apr 24 CW- image of work completed in class

Today I noticed that I printed out some errors with my parts so I reprinted them. Also, I used tape and other materials to assemble my desktop organizer together. I also found out that I have to 3d print out my hinge and edit my door.
Thu, Apr 24 HW – image of completed homework

For homework, I added some pictures to my art designs because I had finished making the desktop organizer. I also attempted to make the drawer bigger as the teacher told me but I had failed so I will search for help in class. I tried to make the drawer longer by extruding its side but it had messed up the joints.
Tue, Apr 22 CW- image of work completed in class

Today in class I printed my parts and started to work on assembling them together. I found out that with cardboard it may come out to be a struggle so I will use tape next time and find a correct order to match the cardboard pieces together/
Tue, Apr 22 HW – image of completed homework

Today for homework, I created a design for my back and top for my small part of the drawer. This part consists of diffrent designs of my friends most favorite rappers and artists with very strong lyrics.
Week 5
Thu,, Apr 17 CW- image of work completed in class

Today in class, I downloaded photoshop and used adobe illustrator. I used the skills the teacher taught me and was able to use photos I would like to implement in my project by removing backgrounds with photoshop and adding them precisely where I want them to with adobe. The teacher taught me how to individually change certain parts of a piece and edit them.
Thu, Apr 17 HW – image of completed homework

For homework, I added a compartment to the side of my design and also the numbers 11 for the person I am creating the desktop organizer for. I also created some small designs I could use for my pieces and tested them out, they are not official but I think I would like to go this path. The compartments are made of four different parts and will be used to add small items. I added the numbers 11 because my friend noah has the number 11 for his hockey jersey.
Tue, Apr 15 CW- image of work completed in class

Today in class, I experimented using the AI imaging tool with adobe illustrator and starting experimenting where I can implement images on my design. I added sketches to the parts of my desktop so I can import them into adobe. Because my friend likes hockey, I used images of hockey players, pucks, and sticks into my design and also used a photo of him playing hockey.
Tue, Apr 15 HW – image of completed homework

For homework I completed the hinge I need for my door in my desktop organizer and next class I will attempt to 3d print it and ask mr brodie on how to implement it in my design. I can easily change the thickness of the holes and parts because I used a variable which I can change as I learn more about the parts the teacher has
Week 4
Fri, Apr 11 CW- image of work completed in class

In class, I added the letters and listend to the teachers feeback. I created the curves on the sharp edges and made sure that my pieces would be one piece. The book holders on the top would be connected to the pieces on the bottom to save wood. Additionally, I started working on creating a hinge for my door in the bottom. I used a video and followed it.
Fri, Apr 11 HW – image of completed homework

For homeowkr, I added a cylindar in the middle of my desktop organizer so that I could ask the teacher on how I can 3d print it. Also, I created a door for my bottom drawer that I will make so it can open like a door; however, I do not understand how to attack a hinge and use it so I will attempt to ask the teacher on what I could do. I already have a copy of a door hinge I had made in the past which I think could come to use.
Wed, Apr 9 CW- image of work completed in class

Today in class, I added a space inside the front of my design to create a door-like compartment. I will attempt to 3d print a hinge in the future and create it so the door can open and close. Also, I started working on my drawer and made it so that its a small box inside the space I made previously.
Wed, Apr 9 HW – image of completed homework

For homework, I added two parts on the top and another compartment. The two cylindars on the top will allow for my friend noah to put up books and allow for him to lean items on to it. Also, the cabinet will allow for noah to store items.
Mon, Apr 7 CW- image of work completed in class

Today in class I restarted my design for my desktop organizer. I noticed that I was missing some parts. My design was unrealistic and I changed it. I added more parts and made sure that the pieces are made so that they can stick inside one another. I added a platform on the top and will add more for homework and future classes.
Mon, Apr 7 HW – image of completed homework

For homework I started working on my design for the desktop organizer. I added two sides for documents and one pat in the middle with a cylindar. In class I will start to further work on this. This design is premature and is not very good which I will fix in class
Week 3
Thu, Apr 3 CW- image of work completed in class

In class today I looked at my mission statement and created 4 different designs with a cylinder in the middle and it follows the wants and needs of my friend. Furtermore, I added labels and different 3d views to clearly visualize my purpose because my artistic designs may have hindered my meaning. With the implementation of these small labels I clearly showed what different parts of my desktop design were for and how they followed the mission statement of my friend.
Thu, Apr 3 HW – image of completed homework

For homework I interviewed a colleague so I can clearly understand a purpose for my desktop organizer and grab a clear idea of what to do.
Mission statement
When talking to my friend Noah Kelly, he mentioned his frequent struggle with organizing documents and papers, which often get lost on his desk. His main goal for the desktop organizer is to create a clean and efficient workspace where he can easily see what he needs and what he doesn’t. Right now, his desk setup consists of a pencil box in the top left corner, small books in the top right, big books in the bottom left, and documents in the bottom right. However, he often forgets to put things away, leading to a giant mess. To match his interests and preferences, the organizer should have a simplistic design with black, white, or grey colors, made from wood or plastic. Since he also enjoys hockey, incorporating a hockey-related theme would make it more appealing. A key feature he wants is a cylinder in the middle to hold a water bottle or other items while also promoting overall organization. Inside the organizer, a dedicated space for documents and papers will help prevent them from getting lost.
Tue, Apr 1 CW- image of work completed in class

Today in class I realized that I had a flaw with my design. There would not be enough surface tension between my two pieces to allow for the screws and bolts to work efficiently. To fix this, I changed the distance between the two plates and combined the cylinder so that there would be a stronger surface tension. Also because of this I had to change how far the phone could move by changing the dimensions on the joint. I put the phone at different angles and then combined them. Moreover, I added screws and standoffs with the correct dimensions into my phone and I think that I am finished. Finally, I started to work on the next project of the desktop organizer. I finished reading the description and made 8 open ended questions.
Tue, Apr 1 HW – image of completed homework

For homework I finished my phone stand design and I will ask for feedback from the teacher. I added a plate at the bottom, and made a platform by using the joint command from the phone to the stand. I made sure the measurements were accurate. I also made another platform on the bottom to make sure the bottom stays a hold of itself.

Tue, Mar 25 HW – image of completed homework
The image displays minimal work completed during homework – 75%.

For homework, I added my third drawing idea which was a magnet. I thought if I could use a fake magnet drawn by myself and use another lower piece of wood to hold the phone it would create a nice visual. The magnet would be stuck to a piece that would have a hinge that could go up and down.
Week 1
Sat, Mar 22 CW- image of work completed in class
Guiding Statement
I want to make a phone stand that utilizes Ideas that are fun and recognizable by children and people my age. Through the use of materials and ideas, I will make it very fun for others. Also, I would like to use wood and simple materials to make sure that my designs look simplistic.

Today in class, I sketched three designs using the ideas of a nintendo, a book, and a mortar from a video game. I labeled where the hinges would be and what the designs would look like.
Thu, Mar 20 CW- image of work completed in class

Today in class, I finished up some missing parts in my sketch and I added more detail to my phone
