Week 9
Thur, Feb 13 CW – Image of work completed in class
In class I fixed some bugs in my CAD design and prepared to print them by projecting the sketches and creating DXF files. Additionally, I have prepared the file to be ready for printing.

Tues, Feb 11 CW – Image of work completed in class
I started and completed the pencil box challenge this class for the CAD. I just need to print it and glue it now. However, I still haven’t glued together my printed desktop organizer yet.

Week 8
Sat, Feb 8 HW – image of completed classwork
In class I printed the last piece of the left side that didn’t come out well, then sanded each individual piece. I haven’t glued the organizer yet but it is fitted together with the name labelled.

Week 7
Thur, Jan 30 CW – Image of work completed in class
Today I completed the final parts of the CAD and projected all the sketches so I can download them as DXF files. I had saved all the DXF files and imported them to Rhino. Even though I didn’t get to print them yet, I managed to save the sketches as a rhino file. I printed out the front and back sides so far.

Thur, Jan 30 HW – Image of completed homework
I had a little problem with the front side sketch since I had deleted it, so I had to fix up the model with only the remnants from a projection I made for the back verticals. However, I managed to figure my way through and create all the little joints on the front back and bottom of the organizer for the pieces.

Tues, Jan 28 CW – Image of work completed in class
This class I made the bottom piece, the back vertical, the large triangle, and the front vertical. I am pretty close to completion of the cad.

Tues, Jan 28 HW – Image of completed homework
I followed the tutorials and completed the front side and extrusion, in addition to completing the backside. I switched the parameters in order to ensure everything is working right.

Week 6
Fri, Jan 24 CW – image of work completed in class
Today I finished creating the two sides and nearly completed work on the front side. However, I discovered that due to the difference in material thickness from mine and the tutorial, my dimensions were completely off. Therefore, I had to restart my front side.

Wed, Jan 22 CW – image of work completed in class
I nearly finished the sketch for the left side of the desktop organizer. Now I just have to extrude and create the right side sketch which shouldn’t take long.

Week 5
Sat, Jan 18 CW – image of work completed in class
I soldered all the wires together properly, and also glued together the base plate and the big base. The LED lamp works, I am done with the project.

Thur, Jan 16 CW – image of work completed in class
In today’s class, I tinted all the wires and soldered them together. I made a mistake in soldering the red wire from the power plug, so after I fix that, the lamp should be working. Next class I hope I can put on the wire guard and fix things in place for the finished project.

Tues, Jan 14 CW – image of work completed in class
This class I screwed together the lower and upper arms, then installed the LED lights and wire holders. I also glued together the base verticals and screwed the rest of the arm into the base plate. Next class I will work on getting the light switch to work and placing the thicker part of the base plate.

Week 4
Fri, Jan 10 CW – image of work completed in class
Waxed 14 wood blocks and also glued together my base verticals

Fri, Jan 10 HW – image of completed homework
Wed, Jan 8 -CW – image of work completed in class
Put together the base plate and verticals, then printed them. Also glued together the pieces for the lower arm parts.

Wed, Jan 8 HW – image of completed homework

Finished working on the base plate and verticals, extruded the bigger base plate to look more like the real deal.
Week3
Thur, Dec 19 CWW – image of completed homework
Glued together the lower arm parts with magnets and small metal plate.
Thur, Dec 19 HW – None
Wed, Dec 18 CW – image of work completed in class
I finished gluing together the upper arm pieces. It now has magnets and holds together by itself. I also finished printing out and sanding the lower arm pieces. I over sanded one side by accident, but it actually turned out looking way better.

Wed, Dec 18 HW – image of completed homework
For homework I worked on the base plate of the led lamp. Although I didn’t get to the base vertical or cutting out the squares for the base plate, I was able to assemble the led lamp to look like it’s supposed to look, while also being able to move at the joints.

Mon, Dec 16 CW – image of work completed in class
In this class, I finished making the lower arm sides and joined together the small disks and the other parts with a non-rigid joint. I also created the horizontal piece of the lower arm and extruded the squares and circles out to make the holes. Next class, I will cut out the lower arm pieces on the laser cutter, then work on making the large base plate.

Mon, Dec 16 HW – image of completed homework
I made the lower arm side sketch, but haven’t extruded it yet. Following the videos, I made a big metal plate and a small one to fit through the moving parts of the led lamp. I am now more confident to sketch things without too much help on fusion.

Week 2
Thur, Dec 12 CW – Image of work completed in class
This class I worked with Colin to figure out how to use the laser cutting machine. After the class, I now know how I can utilize the laser cutting machine by myself. I now have a printed version of my design, which is now sitting in the classroom.
Thur, Dec 12 HW – Image of completed homework
I watched the video tutorial and learned how to use the modify tool for combine. I was able to successfully complete the middle section of the upper arm, which joins together the two side pieces.

Tues, Dec 10 CW – Image of work completed in class
Today in class we completed our upper arm sides and duplicated it. I learned a lot about the key strokes in Fusion, for example, using J and P for join and project instead of looking for the buttons.

Tues, Dec 10 HW – Image of completed homework

I also started my work on the upper arm for the led lamp.
Week 1
Fri, Dec 6 CW – image of completed homework
Today in class, we continued to work on our box. I made a lid and created a design with holes on the side of my box. I think I am confident to use the sketch tool now after class is over.

Tues, Dec 4 HW – Image of completed homework
Last class, we started to learn Fusion by building a box. The most important things I learned were to save the file, and to create a separate component for every single part of the project.
