classork 4/17
working on the ridges, have made some good progress and should be done with my design by next class

classwork 4/14
today I tried to assemble drawer, was successful but now need to add hinges to all of components which I will work on this weekend.

classwork 4/11
added pencil box and dividers. realized I need to change dimensions of drawer so erased it. drawer needs to be cleared by 1/8 of width and 1/16 by height.

homework 4/11
working on the back of organizer

classwork 4/10
really struggled with drawer design. going to work hard on it tonight
homework 4/10
worked on drawer

homework 4/5
Made drawer, and a closed lid. Added three dividers to accommodate users requests but they should be happy with the design!! I used the three dividers by extruding a rectangle and making the width the material thickness. I made the drawer by outlining the drawer area. Also to added more compartments I’m going to add drawers in the back.

classwork 4/4
also worked on design protype. changed material thickness to .15 and added hinges

homework 4/4

classwork 4/3
at grandfather funeral (could not attend class)
homework 4/3
While designing my prototype, my user liked the half-closed triangle and that the compartments were on the other side. My user asked for more compartments going side ways on the top. Additionally they wanted it separated it to three instead of two. Otherwise, my user was happy with the design

homework 4/1
While tring to create slots for cardboard to fit in I struggled with the slots which is kinda an issue and need to talk to Mr brodie.

classwork 3/31
working on creating hinge

homework 3/30

classwork 3/28
need to work on adding hinges to design.

homework 3/28
concept sketches minimum of 6.

classwork 3/27
Problem Statement:
The problem I would like to address most specifically is the user’s paper and notebook organization. The user explained that they would like to have compartments, along with an open area, so I will put a paper organizer on the open compartment. A constraint I might have is how thick the cardboard is in comparison to the paper, so to make this design functional I will add a file organizer that can fit proportionately into the slot. Also, my user explained they wanted a “clean” look which might be slightly difficult to achieve via. the use of cardboard, but by keeping the design as simple as possible I think I could achieve this style. Additionally, it might be hard to make a pencil holder with cardboard material, and would probably look a little tacky straying away from the simplistic look. Instead, I think I will create a compartment box specialized for pencils and pens.
Homework 3/27
- What is your main function for this desktop?
- I would like to able to organize my pencils easily, sort my notebooks, and file some of my tests and quizzes. Additionally, I would want extra space to store small items like gum and snacks.
- Do you want a certain shape?
- Yes, ideally I would like it to be the shape of a triangle with some rectangle parts.
- Describe what you want the compartment to look like and if you want a particular design.
- I would there to be 6 small compartments, one big compartment, and a slot for papers. I want the design to be simplistic so it can blend into my room easily.
- How big do you want your desktop to be?
- about 10 inches.
- Describe any additional features like charger port holder etc.?
- A slot to push a charger through for my laptop would be great!
- Do you have inspiration for the desktop?
- Yes, I want in to look like a triangle file order, but in a desk organizer shape. A triangle design like the louvre is something I really like.
- Describe the aesthetic you want to achieve through this organizer.
- Clean, sleek, and simplistic. I don’t want it to look tacky.
- What do you struggle with organizing on your desk right now?
- I struggle to organize my old materials from tests the most right now.
