Week 10
Fri, Feb 21 CW – image of work completed in class
During our final class of the term, I worked on the orthographic sketch of my iPhone, which we will use for our next project. When we get back from break, I need to go back and check each measurement that I used for the digital sketch and make sure hat they are accurate because I think that I got in the habit of changing the measurements digitally but not adjusting what I had put on the paper.

Week 9
Thur, Feb 13 CW – Image of work completed in class
Today in class, I worked on printing out all of my pieces. I did not end up finishing burning out all of my pieces, and hopefully I will finish next class period.

Thur, Feb 13 HW – Image of completed homework
For homework, I made sure that I had clean sketches for every component of both the desktop organizer and the divider test so that in class tomorrow, I will hopefully be able to print everything out without a problem.

Tues, Feb 11 CW – Image of work completed in class
In class, I finished my final divider design and I saved this information into DXF files. In order to complete this project today, I finished the bottom of the box, used the joint command to attach it to the rest of the box, and then I used the combine tool to cut the spaces for the joints. I saved the clean sketches into a folder so that I can print them out next class.

Tues, Feb 11 HW – Image of completed homework
For tonights homework, I fixed my sides because, originally, they were too short. I fixed the sides, and then I used the joint command to put them in place, and I will have to check I my joints are correct tomorrow, but I think I got it right. I then used the combine tool to cut the holes for the joints from the walls. Next, I will work on the bottom and print it out (if I’ve done everything correctly).

Week 8
Sat, Feb 8 HW – image of completed homework
I could not get a lot done for homework because I do not have the plans for the test (cube), and I still need to finish cutting out my parts for the desktop organizer, which I cannot do from my dorm room.
Thur, Feb 6 CW – image of work completed in class
I hoped to work on printing out all of my parts for the desktop organizer, but the printers were full, so instead I worked on the test. The test is a simple wood cube with joints, but we have do design it by ourselves without given measurements (we have to measure the model to put the data into the design software)

Thur, Feb 6 HW – image of completed homework
I could not get much work done because I had already finished the sketch for the entire project, and all I needed to do was print out my parts. I was unable to print out my parts, however, because I could not make it to consultation that morning.
Week 7
Thur, Jan 30 CW – Image of work completed in class
During class, I finished the sketch for the organizer, and next class I will hopefully be able to print out my pieces and put everything together. I wanted to print some things out in class, but I spent too much time on the spacing for the small compartments.

Thur, Jan 30 HW – Image of completed homework
For homework, I finished the triangular divider piece, and then I made the joints that will connect to the bottom. I also finished the wall in the back and cut out the joints for that piece as well.

Tues, Jan 28 CW – Image of work completed in class
In class today, I finished the front side sketch of my organizer. I extruded the sketch and worked on the back side. I finished the back side and the bottom of the organizer and extruded those as well. For homework, I will hopefully be able to work on the dividers.

Tues, Jan 28 HW – Image of completed homework
Last night, I did not get much work done because I did not have the sheet that I need to make the front panel of the desktop organizer. I didn’t want to potentially make reckless mistakes by following the video because the variable is wrong and I was afraid that this could ruin the project.
Week 6
Fri, Jan 24 CW – image of work completed in class
Today in class I restarted my project. I had to do this because I forgot to add the slits in the side of the box and the left side was on the right side. I restarted and finished both sides, and I started the sketch of the front.

Fri, Jan 24 HW – image of completed homework
Tonight, I finished my sketch for the front side. I did almost have a heart attack because I thought I had the wrong length, but I think this is because the thickness of the wood is affecting the scale for the sketch. If not, I may have to restart all of the work that I did tonight during class tomorrow.

Wed, Jan 22 CW – image of work completed in class
During class today, we finished the sketches for the sides of the organizer, and then we extruded the sides. We will add the joints and the front side for homework tomorrow night.

Week 5
Sat, Jan 18 CW – image of work completed in class
Today, I reassembled my upper arm, attached my base plate to the rest of my base, and I finished the wiring for my lamp. I attached the LED lights and I soldered the wiring together. I know have a fully functioning lamp. At the very end of class, I glued the base plate to the rest of the base, and all that is left for the lamp project are some finishing touches.

Thur, Jan 16 CW – image of work completed in class
During class, my upper arm ended up breaking, so I had to return, re-glue, and reattach the pieces. I also sanded the walls of my base, so that I will be able to move ahead quickly tomorrow.

Week 4
Fri, Jan 10 CW – image of work completed in class
Today in class, I glued my pieces together, including the metal plates. I also burned out my base and glued those metal plates together. I then glued the base verticals to the base plate.

Fri, Jan 10 HW – image of completed homework
Today, I could not get a lot done for homework because I was having troubles with the joints, and my sketch was not looking right, so I will work on this in class, so it will have to be a very productive class time.

Wed, Jan 8 -CW – image of work completed in class
In class and consultation today, I worked on completing the model of the lamp, but I had some trouble with the joints. I also glued more of my pieces together for the wood pieces of the lamp that I burned. In class tomorrow, I will hopefully burn out my base and maybe I will finish the joints for homework.

Wed, Jan 8 HW – image of completed homework
Tonight for homework, I worked on the base of the lamp, but I was unsure of how far to go because I know that we are supposed to stop at some point but I don’t remember which milestone that is.

Week3
Thur, Dec 19 CWW – image of completed homework
Today in class, I finished extruding and making the holes for the lower arm pieces. I also downloaded this onto a hard drive, so that I can burn the pieces out when we get back from break.

Thur, Dec 19 HW – None
Wed, Dec 18 CW – image of work completed in class
Today in class, I fixed my problem and finished the sketch for the lower arm. I put these files onto a USB, but the laser machines were busy, so I will probably finish cutting out the arm tomorrow. I also worked to put the magnets in the upper arm, but the resin solidified quickly, so I will probably have to go over it twice.

Wed, Dec 18 HW – image of completed homework
Tonight, I had a tech issue, so I could not get a lot done, but that is fine because I was already ahead of the syllabus. I had some problems using the distance tool, and the holes that I am trying to make in my lower inside arm would not move. I will ask for help during class tomorrow, and I will try to get as much done as possible then.

Mon, Dec 16 CW – image of work completed in class
Today in class, I watched the video tutorials and I created my lower arm and attached it to the upper arm by using joints and the metal disks. I then worked to create the piece that is located in between the two side of the lower arm. I also sanded down the upper arm that I had already wood burned out.

Mon, Dec 16 HW – image of completed homework
For homework, I watch the videos and made my sketch of the lower arm, and I also made the two metal plates that will be put in between the upper arm and the lower arm.

Week 2
Thur, Dec 12 CW – Image of work completed in class
Today in class and in consultation, I caught up with the rest of the group, and burned out the final result of the upper arm. We learned how to use the wood burner and how to download our sketches and put them into the machine.

Thur, Dec 12 HW – Image of completed homework
Today for homework, I made my sketch 3d, and I tried to work on joints, but I could not get it right, so I will attend consultation and ask for help. I also copied the now 3D piece, and I will attach them together using the joint.

Tues, Dec 10 CW – Image of work completed in class
Today in class, I learned a valuable lesson. When using Fusion, always create a component before creating a set because when you go to turn the sketch into a 3D shape, it will not work. In class, I had to restart the work from the first two classes, and begin fresh. I also added the holes in the arm of the lamp.

Tues, Dec 10 HW – Image of completed homework
For homework, we were to watch a video on how to finish the sketch of the upper arm side profile. We learned how to set the lines tangent to the circles, and we learned how to trim off some parts so that we had one shape.

Week 1
Fri, Dec 6 CW – image of completed classwork
In class today, we worked on learning the basics. We made a box, like the last class, and we put a hole in it about the size of a finger. We also made a sketch for the upper arm.

Wed, Dec 4 CW – image of work completed in class
We started to learn Fusion.
