Week 9
Thur, Feb 13 CW – Image of work completed in class
Today in class, I made a hinge using a youtube tutorial, which I think allowed me to understand how a hinge works. Now, I need to figure out a way to increase the friction between the joints so it can hold the weight of a phone.

Thur, Feb 13 HW – Image of completed homework
Today for homework, I began researching and designing different versions of an adjustable viewing angle phone holder. I initially started with one where it is adjustable from the bottom, but I decided against that I went with this design, which I have seen before in phone holders that I really liked. In addition, I can use materials that we have in the classroom, which is an even bigger benefit.

Tues, Feb 11 CW – Image of work completed in class
Today I finished cutting my parts and glued them together with clamps. These are finished now, and I need to work on making a phone stand with an adjustable viewing angle.

Week 8
Sat, Feb 8 HW – image of completed classwork
Today in class I cut out a lot of my pencil box, but I made a mistake in cutting the same thing out twice, so I have to recut one of the parts.

Sat, Feb 8 HW – image of completed homework
Today for homework I finished the CAD model for the pencil box and exported all of the sketches as dxf files so that they are ready to be cut on the laser cutter.

Thur, Feb 6 CW – image of work completed in class
Today in class I started working on the pencil holder and I was able to build the walls and the bottom. I will finish the dividers for homework.

Week 7
Thur, Jan 30 CW – Image of work completed in class
Today in class, I cut the parts, sanded them, then assembled them together in the body. I wasn’t able to glue them, but I will do that next class.

Thur, Jan 30 HW – Image of completed homework
For homework, I finished the CAD model for the desktop organizer and downloaded the dxf files for the sketches to a folder in my computer, I believe I am ready to cut my parts next class.

Tues, Jan 28 CW – Image of work completed in class
Today I added the inner dividers besides the smallest ones in the middle left. I will finish that for homework.

Tues, Jan 28 HW – Image of completed homework
For homework I finished up to the back of the holder. The parameters work for most places, but still don’t work for the front.

Week 6
Fri, Jan 24 CW – image of work completed in class
Today, I tried to continue doing my CAD, by my parameters got messed up, so I have to restart.

Fri, Jan 24 HW – image of completed homework
Today for homework I made the sketch for the front of the desktop organizer.

Wed, Jan 22 CW – image of work completed in class
Today we started a new project, which is the desktop organizer. I was able to make the left and right side of the desktop organizer with components assigned to both and jointed to each other at a set distance.

Week 5
Sat, Jan 18 CW – image of work completed in class
Today in class, all I did was glue the bases together and clamp them together, completing the LED Lamp project.

Sat, Jan 18 HW – image of completed homework

Thur, Jan 16 CW – image of work completed in class
Today in class I have finished a working lamp by soldering the wires on the bottom together and screwing the lamp into the base. It is not totally done but it works.

Tues, Jan 14 CW – image of work completed in class
Today in class I finished the fabrication of the new lower arm and I screwed it into the top arm.

Week 4
Fri, Jan 10 CW – image of work completed in class
Today in class my lower arm section broke, so I had to work on re-fabricating it. I finished gluing in the magnets and gluing the metal parts on.

Fri, Jan 10 HW – image of completed homework
Today for homework, I had finished the actual CAD model, all I had to do was add in the standoffs in between the connecting portions and the block mounts on the lower middle part to have a spot for the LED strip to be fed through.

Wed, Jan 8 -CW – image of work completed in class
Today in class I continued the fabrication of the parts. On the far left, I cut a standoff to put in between the holes in the upper arm. Second to left, I glued the lower arm together. On the top right, I glued the two parts in and used the blocks I waxed to stabilize the structure and keep them perpendicular to the base. On the bottom right, I sanded down the base that Mr. Brodie cut and installed the wire. In addition, I drilled holes in the four block mounts to later screw onto the lower arm, which the LED lights will be fed through.

Wed, Jan 8 HW – image of completed homework
I finished the 3D Model of the LED Lamp before break, so I am just going to work on finishing the fabrication of the rest of the parts and assembling them into the finished product.
Week3
Thur, Dec 19 CWW – image of completed homework
Thur, Dec 19 HW – None
Wed, Dec 18 CW – image of work completed in class
Today during class, I laser cut the rest of the CAD model that I had completed for homework. Then, I started to glue in the magnets in the upper arm using a two-part epoxy.

Wed, Dec 18 HW – image of completed homework
Today for homework, I finished the CAD for the rest of the LED Lamp. On the top is the base that the rest of the lamp will attach to, and on the bottom, is the rest of the completed LED Lamp. The only thing I was not able to figure out was how to cut out the holes in the base plate where the base verticals will go through, which I will ask in class. Otherwise, I am ready to laser cut my LED Lamp!

Mon, Dec 16 CW – image of work completed in class
Today in class, I made the lower arm, jointed it to the upper arm, while making holes in the lower arm. Then, I got started on the base plate. This is what I was able to accomplish today. Also, I sanded my laser cut pieces to make it look smoother.

Mon, Dec 16 HW – image of completed homework
For homework, we made the first sketch for the lower arm and made the circles for the disks that will be used like a spacer in between the wood arms on the axle. Making the lower arm was very similar to making the upper arm, except with larger circles on both sides.

Week 2
Thur, Dec 12 CW – Image of work completed in class
Today we learned how to use Rhino to put our parts on the laser cutter. Using this information, I cut out the parts I had made in CAD and got this. Upper arm for the LED Lamp, complete.

Thur, Dec 12 HW – Image of completed homework
For this homework assignment, I used the projected body that I had done in the last class to make the connecting piece for the two side pieces of the upper arms. After I made the sketch on the projected body, I extruded it to the other side, then cut the excess material using the cut tool on the combine tool.

Tues, Dec 10 CW – Image of work completed in class
Today, we continued and finished the sketch of the upper side of the arm. Then, we made that sketch a 3D object and duplicated it into a separate component. Last, we started the sketch for the inside connector piece. Functions we used included circular pattern, rectangular pattern, and project.

Tues, Dec 10 HW – Image of completed homework
Today for homework, I used the drawings on canvas and the video to complete the sketch for the upper side arm on the LED Lamp. I finished most of it in class, but I snipped the extra lines on the side of the circle that intersects with the main body of the sketch. We learned to use the tangent and snip tool in the sketch menu.

Week 1
Fri, Dec 6 CW – Image of work completed in class
Today in class, we made a sketch of the side of the upper arm for the LED Lamp. We learned how to use sketch tangents to make the circles aligned, and this is what we have so far. Also, we made new modifications to our box, and this is what I have.

Wed, Dec 4 CW – Image of work completed in class
We started to learn Fusion360, including learning to always save and that each separate part must have its own separate component. Using this knowledge, we made a box.
