Finished Luminary Lamp by gluing on the base into the bottom of the panels. I then inserted a lamp onto the base and turned it on to see the light go through the luminary.

Printed my final panel and put together the complete luminary project. I also continued to work on the AI Art History challenge by mostly proofreading and making small adjustments to the paragraphs.

Read over entire Ai Art History project and made edits and adjustments to most of the paragraphs, especially the Cubism comparison. Also used more descriptive language for the artworks and cleanly organized the project into one file.

Created a better Ai artwork of cubism and updated its comparison. Also complete comparison for the Abstract Expressionism artwork as well as generating other possibilities for both abstract expressionism and baroque; however, I decided to stick with the ones I had since they were very well made and represented the art style correctly.

Started comparisons for the Baroque and Cubism Ai artworks. Thinking about differences in styles, texture, detail, and brush strokes.

Finished creating AI art for Baroque and Abstract Expressionism by using the photoshop AI by experimenting with different effects and prompts. I found that using effects can really help enhance the AI artwork as well as specifying what point of view the artwork should be from (birds eye view, landscape, etc).

Finished Cubism Paragraph and created Ai art for cubism by usinig tools such as reference images and styles. I picked the cubism style and oil painting style. I think the artwork is pretty well done but the gragments aren’t as abstract as a cubism styled painting.

Worked on Research for Cubism paragraph and I also finished printing my 3rd panel for the luminary project as well as adding the background paper and sanding.

Continued working on Ai art history challenge and created a paragraph for abstract expressionism, an art form during the 1940s and 1950s. Used resources such as wikipedia and the metropolitan museum of art for the research.

Week 7

Added another potential layer(green) that works really well with the middle layer(blue) and could be implemented into the final design. Thinking about lowering the stroke weights on my layers so that there is more negative space.

Added a bottom layer (black) that connects to the entire piece well and edited the top layer (red) a little bit to better overlap the middle layer (blue).

Added and removed some lines to create better negative space. Outlined stroke for all 3 layers and now it is ready for printing. Added some coloring just to easily distinguish and see how the layers with contrast.

Edited top and middle layer to be much more overlapping instead of having separate patterns that intersect weirdly. Also converted some of the paths to outline stroke so I could work with them easily.
Week 6

Worked more on layered mandala and keeping things consistent when rotating as well as adding more overlap between the layers.

Created a second regular mandala to better understand how to use the tools. Worked a lot with pencil tool, pen tool, elipse tool, and rotate and reflection tool.

Worked on mandala and layered mandala projects. Started experimenting with creating another mandala file
Completed panel 3 and cut off the edges of the paper so now they fit together nicely. Also slightly edited mandala and layered mandala projects.

Printed panel 1 with the new printer and panel 3 with the old printer. Panel 1 will need to be reprinted probably because the new printer has different settings and I ran all of my tests on the old printer. I left panel 3 in the classroom and will do the background and sanding during class.

Edited panel 1 to be flipped and added more vector detail to have a better flow across boards when printing.
Added more detail to layered Mandala and played with overlapping lines across multiple layers.

Completed Mandala Layer Tutorial, learned how to use eyedropper tool and choose inside/outside stroke patterns. Also utilized rotation tool, reflection tool, duplicate transformation tool, and others from last class.

Finished Panel 4 soccer ball overlay vector lines and raster imagery. All 4 panels are now ready to print.
Printed out panel 2 and got background glue on it.

Added better vector detail to panel 3 and completed most of the vector and cut through lines for panel 4. Just need to work on getting the soccer ball inside the net of panel 4 and maybe adding a face to panel 3.

Week 4

Finished Panel 3 vector and cut through lines, changed panel 1 vector lines (will fix players vector lines soon). Added cut through lines and vector liens to the top part of panel 4. Changed how Panel 4 would look so it works better with the laser cutter and doesn’t just fall out and is actually touching the edges now.

Completed Panel 1 mostly and did a test print. Probably will decrease number of vector lines so it doesn’t burn up as much. Almost finished vector cut through lines for panel 2.

Basically completed panel 1. Just need to add a few vector cut through lines (red) but am ready to print. Also split everything into the correct layers including the stadium background and barriers. Learned how to use pathfinder tool to find outlines for me without having to do them manually.

Use shape builder tool to manually cut out the excess parts of the background, created some vector cut through lines (red) to imagine how the light would pass through the subject. Cleaned up perspective and positioning on panels 1 and 4. Starting working on vector line work to see how different subjects would pop out.
Week 3

Finished most of my raster images for the luminary design challenge. Made most of the subjects gray scale to get a sense of how the final image will look. Thinking of how to use negative space and if I want there to be grass or not in the final etch. Also experimenting with different perspectives for things like the soccer nets and players.

Used AI to create most of the subjects for the panels. Took many attempts to get the prompt right to get the exact pose I wanted. Inserted soccer ball into the correct panels and split the panels into separate layers. Started working on getting the soccer nets into the panels.

Started working with AI and my own drawings to start making the Adobe Illustrator file for the laser cutter. Keeping images in color for now but will convert to gray scale once all of the assets are in. Soccer ball asset for all panels has been created.

Completed full size sketch work of luminary design theme. Started playing with how the background barriers and crowd could connect. Thinking about using negative space to make the ball pop out more. Trying to get better at making the people look better so they fit with the angles and perspective.
Week 2

Decided on soccer theme and started thumbnail sketches for possible scenes.

Themes:
-Soccer: One of my favorite sports, and could be represented by someone shooting a soccer ball into a net. The light could pass through parts of the ball to make it illuminate more. The ground could be grass, and the background could be the negative space of the sky or stadium fans.
-Skiing: I love skiing and I always go in the winter. It would have a nice background of snowy mountains and could have negative space for trees in the front. It could show a close-up of someone skiing with poles and skis, and the other side could feature scenery.
-Biking: I bike to school a lot in the fall and spring. It could be interesting to have a bike on a road with the tires cut out so they could be illuminated. Additionally, the bike could be in different scenes, like in the forest, on the mountain, or just on the road.
-Halloween: Halloween would be a good theme because it is coming up when this project is being done, and the light works really well with things like jack-o-lanterns. There could be a Halloween scene in a graveyard with monsters and a full moon, and jack-o’-lanterns, which could really utilize the negative space.

Started work on luminary design challenge by brainstorming themes: soccer, skiing, biking, halloween.
Finished line work lines(blue). Initially had too many lines in the mountain so I had to delete most of them and only keep the important contrasting lines. Added line work to the light house and also added negative space lines(red) to the frame of the window.
Used laser cutter to finish my work.

Created cut through lines (red)for my artwork as well as some line work lines (blue). Finished recoloring the artwork to create more contrast.
