Week 11
Wed, Nov 19 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-11-19

For my final, I completed the AI Art History Challenge Project. I completed everything listed in the instructions to the best of my ability and matched my work to the requirements for full credit on the rubric.
Week 10
Thur, Nov 13 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-11-13

In class today, I worked on my comparative paragraph for the pop art movement. I only have one more paragraph left which I will finish for homework and then I will be done with the project. Also, I took off the rubberbands and clips for my luminary design lamp, and it is complete! I added photos of all of the sides above.
Thur, Nov 13 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-11-13

For homework, I wrote the comparative paragraph for abstract expressionism based off the notes I took during my last class. I followed all the rubric directions and in class will continue to finish the final two paragraphs before looking over my full AI Art History Challenge project to make sure I have included all information and fulfilled all requirements.
Tue, Nov 11 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-11-11

In class today, I first took the excess white background off of my pineapple panel which I showed in the homework photos before. Then I started working on the comparative analysis (part 3) of the AI Art History Challenge. I took notes for all of them and then will progressively turn them into paragraphs to complete the project. The other two sections / parts are fully done. Then, I glued my four panels together with glue, clamps, and rubber bands to keep it in place to dry. I also added the bottom panel and left it to dry.
Tue, Nov 11 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-11-11

For homework, I went to the GCAD building on Sunday to finish printing all of my panels out. I printed my fourth panel with pineapples on it. I also added the white background to it which is drying right now. In class on Tuesday when the final project is due, I will cut the excess white background off the pineapple layer and then glue all of the panels together to be finished!
Week 9
Thur, Nov 6 CW – image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-11-6

Today in class, I finished working on Part 2 of the AI Art History Challenge – Prompt Writing and Image Generation because I finished the prompts and generation for cubism which was the last movement I had to do. Then I set up my artwork comparisons for Part 3 – Comparative Analysis so I am all ready to write my paragraphs for homework. Also to make this part easier, I tried to generate images based on a key artists style or looked at one of their images and made a prompt based off of it so now I can compare two images which should be quite similar.
Thur, Nov 6 HW – image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-11-6
For homework, I continued to work on Part 2 of the AI Art History Challenge – Prompt Writing and Image Generation. I finished the prompt writing and photo generation for Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art.

Tue, Nov 4 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-11-4
Today in class, I added a white background to create my third completed panel for the luminary design challenge. I also completed Part 1 of the AI Art History Challenge – Research. I started working on Part 2 – Prompt Writing and Image Generation. I pasted everything I have completed so far below.

Tue, Nov 4 HW – image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-11-4

For homework, I finished taking notes on the two final art history movements, cubism and pop art. I already finished the notes and paragraph and added photos for abstract expressionism. In class I will add the white background to my third panel and then finish working on these two movements.
Week 8
Fri, Oct 31 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-10-31

Today in class I started working on my AI Art History Challenge. I worked on the abstract expressionism one the most and completed the research, paragraph, and added photos. I started working on the pop art one but only have a little bit of research so far.
Fri, Oct 31 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-10-31
For homework, I completed my mandala design. I wanted to add some layering in the middle circle so added that and then also wanted to add something dark in the white space so put dark semi circles on some of the background lines. Dark meaning the darkest 90% grayscale color. I included photos of all of the grayscale colorings and then also the full completed mandala.

Wed, Oct 29 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-10-29

Today in class, I almost completed my mandala design. I added a lot in each of the 4 squares separated by the dark gray lines. I included photos of not only my final, but also a photo of my layers and each grayscale color which can be seen in the last photos.
Wed, Oct 29 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-10-29

For homework, I continued to work on my mandala. I added more circles and semi-circles to the top and middle layers to continue the theme from the middle of the mandala. I included a photo of my layers at the bottom. In the second, third, and fourth photos, you can see individually what my top, middle, and bottom layers look like (you will know which is which based on grayscale color).
Week 7
Thur, Oct 23 CW – image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-10-23

In class today, while my 3rd panel of the watermelons in the third photo posted was printing, I worked on my mandala. I think my panel came out very well and looks good next to my other 2 completed ones. With the mandala project, I am trying to expand it while adding details and got a better understanding of how the final product will be created (the layers stained and then stacked in real life). I also included a photo of my layers. For next class, I will add the background to my third panel (just white like the other two) and then for homework I will continue with the mandala.
Thur, Oct 23 HW – image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-10-23

For homework I continued to work on my mandala project. I layered the work I did last time and added different gray scale colored semi circles to connect the points. I included a photo of my layers thus far.
Tue, Oct 21 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-10-21

In class, I started my final mandala project to be cut out on the laser cutter since I finished both tutorials. I am going for this flowery looking mandala which you will be able to tell more by next class. I also attached my layers in the second photo.
Tue, Oct 21 HW – image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-10-21

For homework, I finished up my mandala layered project which you can see in the first two photos (the first in outline view and the second with the grayscale stroke colors. I also included my layers in the third photo and you can see what is in each layer.
Week 6
Fri, Oct 17 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-10-17

In class today, I continued to work on my layered mandala. I also added the white background to my final panel so now I have two done but a photo is not included because it was a little crooked so i had weights sitting on it for the class period. They are both in the drawer now with the others from my class. The first 3 photos are of the individual layers (meaning a different grayscale color is on each layer). I also included photos of the swatches and the layers that I have. Now, I am working on freestyling the background which you can see in the last photo to complete the second mandala tutorial which I believe is due next class / next week.
Fri, Oct 17 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-10-17

For homework, I continued working on my second layered mandala following the tutorial. After the photo I have posted, I got confused how to do the framing part and the steps were not very specific so I will get help in class to finish the mandala during class. Also during class I will finalize my second panel so that I can have them both completed to match the due date. I also included my layers thus far in the last image.
Wed, Oct 15 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-10-15

I started working on the second mandala tutorial with the different layers. I disgarded the one I was working on for homework because I did not realize we had a second tutorial one. The second photo is of my layers as of thus far and the third one is my swatches with the 25%, 50%, and 90% gray. The last photo is of the completed strawberry panel with the background and everything. My orange panel is currently drying and I will be able to cut it out next class to finish two panels by Friday to meet the assignment due date.
Wed, Oct 15 HW – Image and description of completed homework- HWDueDate 2025-10-15

For homework, I started working on the second mandala (not the tutorial one). I have two layers: the guidelines and the linework for the mandala. Every thing has a stroke of 6 except the outer points which have a stroke of 4.
Mon, Oct 13 CW – Image and description of completed homework- CWDueDate 2025-10-13

In class today, I worked on finishing the tutorial mandala before starting a different one. I edited the one from the previous homework to match the tutorial one and the final version is pasted above in my classwork for today. I also included the layers so that you can see whats on each one. Next class and for homework, I will start the second mandala.
Mon, Oct 13 HW – Image and description of completed homework- HWDueDate 2025-10-13

For homework, I started working on my mandala project which is depicted in the first two photos. I am trying to get the ovals in the center circle to go around in between the two lines evenly but I was struggling with the reflect tool because it was not going over the axis i wanted it to. The last photo is of the two layers I have at this point in the project. Next class, I will add the white background to my orange panel that should be completely printed out and then will see it my strawberry panel one dried correctly to be cut out
Week 5
Thur, Oct 9 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-10-9

In class, I completed my watermelon panel with the linework and the negative vector through cuts in the first and second photos. Then I added a white background to my previously completed strawberry panel which dried after class. Then I printed my orange panel and the engravement had to go through twice to be dark enough. Mr. Brodie said that there was a problem with the machine printing out the outer panel lines so he tried to fix it for me after class. The last photo is the completed orange panel without the background and without the outside panel lines being cut out.
Thur, Oct 9 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-10-9

For homework, I started to work on my last panel with the watermelons. I first Ai generated variations which are in the last photo and used the top middle one. I copy and pasted it in the places that I wanted them to be in order to show the flow between panels. Then I turned them into grayscale and did the linework for two out of the four watermelons which can be seen in the first and second pictures. Next class, I am going to print my second final panel but then also complete the watermelon outlines so I can start on the negative vector through cuts which include adding the seeds.
Tue, Oct 7 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-10-7

Today in class, I finished the outline for my orange panel, so now all 3 panels with the strawberries, pineapples, and oranges have been completed. I printed out the final panel for the strawberries which I needed to go over twice with the vector grayscale. Then, the laser cutter added the line work and cut out the vector negative space through cuts. The final photo is the completed final strawberry panel.
Tue, Oct 7 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-10-7

For homework, I continued the outlines / linework of the oranges on the orange panel but I still have one left to do. I also outlined the small parts within the orange in a smaller stroke so that the fill inside was not fully covered by the stroke thickness. Next class, I would like to do at least 2 test prints and a final print hopefully given these panels are due Thursday.
Week 4
Sat, Oct 4 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-10-4

In class, I worked to increase the contrast of the pineapple panel because the pieces that make up the pineapple are just so small that to be able to see it well in the final design, the shades will have to be very different. I spent the rest of the class creating the outline of the negative space vector through cuts for the orange panel and then completed the linework for most of one of the oranges. Next class, I would like to test print the pineapple to see the contrast and then continue to work on my orange panel.
Sat, Oct 4 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-10-4

For homework, Ai helped me to generate different orange styles for my third panel in the making. The variations are in the top photo and I ended up picking the middle orange but removed one of the leaves to take up less space. Next, I changed the contrast of the strawberries because the grayscale shades were too similar in the test print which is shown previously in my blog page. Then I placed the oranges in the places I want and tried to make them line up in similar places as the strawberries to create flow between the two panels. Then I removed all the excess orange that was outside of the border and then changed the grayscale of all of the oranges. During our next class I will continue to work on this orange panel for the linework and negative space.
Wed, Oct 1 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-10-1

In class today, I moved around my pineapple shapes and changed their sizes so that there was more flow between the strawberry panel and the pineapple panel. This required me to remake the negative space lines and also make sure that the line work was still lined up. Then, I did a test print on a 4 x 4 piece of wood to see the difference between the colors which needs some work – there needs to be more contrast – and this went for most of my classmates. The last photo shows the test print. There would be more seeds printed out but they are being carved out since they are part of the negative space so light can shine through.
Wed, Oct 1 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-10-1

For homework, I completed my two panels so I am ready to print them in class in the laser printer tomorrow. I worked to complete the linework for the pineapple panel and then also moved the strawberry seeds so that there were not awkard spaces given that they will be cut out on the real light. The first photo is of the grayscale work, the second photo is of the vector negative through cuts, and the third photo is the linework (all of which are completed). I am excited to print tomorrow!
Mon, Sept 29 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-9-29

Today in class, I worked to create the outline for my first two panels, the strawberries and pineapples. I completed the linework for the strawberry panel but I still have to complete the linework for the pineapple panel which I will do for homework so I am all ready to print them both out next class. The red line on the pineapple panel was just for myself to see where the outlines had previously been placed because some of the grayscale on my pineapple panel was very dark so it was hard to see where I put the black lines already. The first photo shows the grayscale and the linework. The second photo shows the grayscale, linework, and negative space through cut linework. And the third photo just shows the linework.
Mon, Sep 29 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-9-29

For homework, I completed the negative space outline for my panel with the pineapples on it (3rd panel in total, 2nd completed). Next class, since I have finished 2 panels, I could try to test it on the laser cutter so that if I need to fix anything before moving onto my final two, I can. The top photo is of both complete panels (the strawberries and the pineapples) and the bottom one is of just the pineapple because that is what I completed for homework.
Week 3
Thur, Sept 25 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-9-25

In class today, first, I worked to finalize the outline of the negative space for my strawberry panel which is now fully completed. Then, I worked to remove all of the pineapple pieces going outside of the panel borders so that I could start on my outline for the negative space. I completed outlining two of the pineapples so next class I will work to complete that. I hope to do a test print of at least these 2 panels by next class so for homework I will also try to complete the pineapple panel. I am trying to figure out if I just want to leave the pineapples like that or see how I can incorporate the negative space through cuts somewhere within the pineapple itself.
Thur, Sept 25 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-9-25

For homework, I made the outline of the negative space for the strawberries, but I still need to add the border outline connecting them as well so that it cuts out everything white behind them (vector through cut). Then, I turned my pineapple panel to grayscale and then I copied the pineapples and changed their sizes so that there is variation among the panels (same with strawberries too like I did previously). After this, I spread them out so that I knew where I wanted to place them. Next class (tomorrow), I plan to remove the pineapple parts that are not within the border and then outline the negative space for them, as long as complete the outline for the strawberries.
Tue, Sept 23 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-9-23

In class today, I started creating the artwork for the 4 panels for my luminary box! I started off making the strawberries which I completed the panel for. I worked on making sure that the design fit within the panels and also that the grayscale of the strawberry was what I wanted. I outlined the vector through cuts (seeds) for the strawberry so that even though the seeds themselves are not unfilled, they will be cut out by the laser cutter. I will also need to then make the outline for the negative space in the background so that can be cut out as well. I like the idea of the light being able to shine through the seeds which will also be what I will do for the watermelon panel. I started creating variations for my pineapple which is the 3rd panel on the page, but 2nd one I will be working on. You can also see my other strawberry variations as long as the other pineapple ones. I also included my layers so far (the negative space / vector through cuts, grayscale layer with the actual fruits, and then the text / panel outlines).
Tue, Sept 23 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-9-23

For homework, I finalized my 4 panels for the luminary box design. In class, I got the feedback that I should vary the sizes of the shapes of my fruits, so I erased the previous ones to make them vary in size. In panel 1, I have oranges. In panel 2, I have strawberries. In panel 3, I have pineapples. And in panel 4, I have watermelons which all fit under the theme of fruits. I plan to use the seeds to have light come through as negative space. I also plan to outline the fruits using negative space so that they are outlined by a light border.
Mon, Sept 22: PROJECT EXTENSION WORK – FINAL PRODUCT:

For my project extension, I laser cutted my taxi and road out onto the plank of wood. The first photo is the outline of the taxi and the road. Then the second photo is the outline of the negative space (through cuts) and the outline of the taxi and road. The last photo is my final product which I gave to Mr. Brodie during class. THANK YOU for the extension!
Week 2
Sun, Sept 21: PROJECT EXTENSION WORK:

I got an extension on my laser cutter project from Mr. Brodie. I added the negative space with the bright red line which you can see in my photo. Tomorrow, Monday, Sept 22, I am going to print my taxi onto a plank of wood so that I can complete the project.
Sat, Sept 20 CW – Image and description of completed homework. – CWDueDate 2025-9-20

In class today, I created 2 thumbnail sketches for a set of 4 panels. My ideas were different types of fruits and then planets / stars for each panel. For the first set of thumbnail sketches, I did oranges, strawberries, pineapples, and watermelons. For the second set of thumbnail sketches, I drew a sun and then other planets on the other panels. Along with the planets, I added stars and lines to show that other planets are orbiting around each. In the white thin spaces either outlining the planets or the fruits (including seeds), I thought that could be negative space so that I could have light shining through and the planets and fruits could be outlined. The seeds would also be negative space in the fruits so that light could shine through so they are not just all solid with no negative space. I was leaning more towards the fruit thumbnail sketches because of this idea, but the planets would also be cool. Especially with the sun, negative space with the stars or around each planet / sun will make it look like they are shining.
Sat, Sept 20 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-9-20
Possible Themes for my Luminary Design Assignment:
- different fruits on each panel
- different planets in the solar system on each panel
- I thought that different fruits across the four panels would work well because even I think that I could incorporate negative space in the fruits well so that light could shine through. The first thought that came to me was an orange because I could incorporate this negative space into the different triangles that make up the inside of the orange. Another fruit idea was a strawberry and using the seeds as negative space for like to shine through. There could be multiple of each fruit on each panel and they could be different sizes as well.
- My second idea was putting different planets across the four panels. I could add stars and a border around the planets to each panel to incorporate negative space which would resemble the brightness of the stars and to outline the planets. With the rings around certain planets, like Saturn, light shining through by negative space would also be a cool idea. Possibly throughout the panels, I could create lines in the back to symbolize the orbiting of the planets and try to align the lines between all 4 panels.
Thur, Sept 18 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-9-18
Classwork **NOTE BELOW CLASSWORK DESCRIPTION**:

Today in class, I edited my linework which can be seen in the first image. This was because I had too many lines too close to one another, and this would be a fire hazard when the laser cutter started its job. That is also better for my work because it is more simplified and will be easier to visualize. I also downloaded my art boards onto the GCAD 3 thumb drive so that I could be able to laser print my work – I did not get to do it in class because 3 other students were working, but I will come to consult on September 19th.
**NOTE**:
- I was given an extension on this project given that I did not have the negative space or window bordered for my vector through cuts.
- I was going to print during consult 9/18 but was missing this.
- Coming to consult Monday to print the final project.
- Thank you for the extension!!!
Thur, Sept 18 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-9-18

These are the two finalized images of my artwork to be put into the laser cutter which I will do next class (Thurs, September 18th). The first one shows my linework and the second one shows the car and road filled in using grayscale to create contrast.
Mon, Sept 15 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-9-15

Today in class, I worked to fully finalize my work for the laser cutter. I simplified my lines as much as possible so that it is easier for the laser cutter to do its job. I also moved all of the linework to one layer and all of the filled grayscale objects to one layer. This way, I can have my etching, linework, and filled objects (car and road) all in their individual layers. I also have a dark gray background layer that I have turned to invisible in both of these photos, just to show where the negative space is. Lastly, I deleted all excess layers that I may have added by accident or have artwork that could be moved to a different layer. Next class or if I come to a consult period, I will start using the laser cutter if it is available.
Mon, Sept 15 HW – Image and description of completed homework – HWDueDate 2025-9-15

For homework, I retook the photos of my completed artwork to be laser printed. Since I finished this in class, I did not have much to fix and work on for homework. I also plan to go to consult one day this upcoming week so that I can make sure that I have been completing my blog page correctly!
Week 1
Thur, Sept 11 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-9-11
Thur, Sept 11 HW – Image and description of completed homework- HWDueDate 2025-9-11

Today in class, I first started off by simplifying my work to just the taxi and the road that it is on so that I could focus on just one object. Then, I increased the contrast in my image by changing the grayscale colors of my taxi and road. When done with that, I copied the taxi and road so that I could then remove the fill from it (make the inside transparent / have no fill). This way, you could just see the border of the taxi and road at a stroke of 0.25 in the color black. I posted 3 photos to document my progress from today. Photo 1 is just the taxi and road with no fill – just border / lines – which I did by removing the fill from the finished contrasted image. Photo 2 shows that I improved the grayscale of the taxi and road to create more contrast between the two. Lastly, Photo 3 shows the completed contrasted image with the borders / line work on top which I did by adding the border on top of the contrasted image of the taxi and road previously there.
Tue, Sept 9 CW – Image and description of completed homework – CWDueDate 2025-9-9

Today in class, we worked to use the AI text and photo generator to fill in the right most block of the template with the bull dogs. I generated a pigeon sitting on a window sill and taxi with the New York City skyline behind it. We also worked to create negative space behind the images we generated which is shown behind the skyline and next to the road the taxi is on. I also screenshotted all of my generated variations because there were too many to see in just one scroll (the pigeon, taxi, and skyline).
